Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Need something like it again - 1991 Honda Civic

With 315,000 miles this car has always gotten me home, or at least to my mechanic, under its own power. Ive not babied it. Its gone 110 mph at least twice since turning 300K. Commuting or highway MPG is about 27. We have an 85 with fewer miles and a better styled interior with many more configurations than Ive seen before or since on any vehicle.

  • Loved it ! - 1990 Honda Civic

I loved the 90 hatchback that I had. Unfortunately had to sell it in order to make room for the 90 accord I am getting. Something about those old hondas really appeals to me.

  • Awesome car - 1995 Honda Civic

I bought the car in August of 06. It had an aftermarket header and muffler. I have added rims, tail lights, neons and the interior has been custom painted. The car runs pretty good. It has the 1.6L VTEC-E motor, with a 5 spd tranny. I can run with my dads big v8 truck. The car is built extremely well. It has 190,000 on the motor and it has been put through a lot of racing as it was in a racing club before I bought it and I have been rough on it. I have no problems with the car, uses a little bit of oil and thats it.

  • Where is the quality? - 2008 Honda Civic
    By -

I have been in the automotive business for 15 years. I have owned or leased almost every make vehicle including Toyota, Ford, GM and Honda. This Honda Civic is my 3rd Honda. Of all the vehicles I have owned, by far I have had the most problems with Hondas. The engine and transmission may be smooth and reliable, but the little annoying problems like the constant flickering of the check engine lights (all 3 have had this problem). Very disappointed and frustrating. Ive had less problems on my GM owned vehicles - far less! These vehicles are riding on the reputation of Hondas many years ago. Believe it or not, many American vehicles have surpassed the so called Honda quality. DISAPPOINT

  • Okay Car - 2010 Honda Civic
    By -

Traded my V6 VW Passat GLX for this Honda. The reason I was looking for something more reliable and fuel friendly. As expected performance was much different than what I am used to. Felt light but handling was okay. after 2 weeks of driving it gives me about 29 m/g which is really nice. I went for EX-L full option trim which I kind regret since it came to 24K and the car still does not feel luxurious. For that price I think I could got better but too late and it was my fault.

  • Still chuggin along - 1997 Honda Civic
    By -

I bought the car new back in February 1997. Its now over 10 years old. What can I say about this car? Its been through 2 accidents, 2 AC systems (compressor locked and then a rock flew right into it), 5 windshields, blown head gasket, but its still running along. The car still looks new, since I take care of my car, except the front. I drive A LOT! The paint is peeling on the front bumper and the hood, but the rest of the car looks new. Its getting time to buy another car. But I want to see the odometer roll to over 200K, and then Im selling it off. I cant believe a lot of people are still interested in this car. Im movin on up. Im looking into buying either a TSX or Accord

  • The perfect small car - 2008 Honda Civic

This little car is a gem. My first criteria was MPG, but I got way more than I expected. It was hard to find one with a manual, but I am old school (52 yrs) and prefer it by far. After over 7000 Alaska miles I have averaged 33.7 MPG. On the highway in summer I have reached over 46. With a set of General Altimax Arctic studded tires my Civic sticks to the gnarly Alaska winter roads like glue. Snow tires cost 5 MPG. Handling is precise, sporty, and steering balanced and neutral, leaning slightly toward oversteer. With over 6 months of ice and snow, I have been amazed with the sure-footed habits of the Civic. My wife also loves driving it.

I have owned my Civic for over four years and I only had to use the warranty service once. This is a great car. As a owner, I highly recommend this car.
