Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • My hot Civic. - 2003 Honda Civic

My Civic is one hot little ride. The engine is creamy smooth, 5 speed shifts the best of any economy car, Gas mileage is the best without it being a hybrid. Very comfortable seats. Great driving position. Nicely loaded and excellent build quality. Not the typical econo car cheap parts. This is my second Civic, the first was a 95 and it was very dependable and long running. You wont believe the excellent mileage. Quality, dependable, and long running.

  • Improve engine and road noise, then A+ - 2007 Honda Civic

Very good handling with ample power. My grade-school boys refer to it as their "Hot Wheels" and love riding in it... quite zippy and fun to drive. The sensitive drive-by-wire accelerator takes getting used to (jerky, hard to launch gradually and smoothly); the automatic transmission feels intrusive or hesitant at times. My only major gripe is the road/tire and engine noise; Honda should add some more sound insulation and it would be the PERFECT choice in this category. Otherwise, its an excellent value and Im very pleased with it overall!

Very poor engine performance. Primarily in 4th and 5th gear get a degree of engine hesitation, stumble and at times surge. Difficult to do maintain 60-65 on highway in top gear because of the total lack of throttle response. Have to depress throttle 1/2 way to floor before I hear engine tone change and feel any acceleration. Am getting 37-39 mpg, well below rated 44mpg on hiway where most of my commute is. Would appreciate any response or comment on this issue

  • Love It!! - 2004 Honda Civic

This is absolutely the best car I have ever purchased and will keep it until I run it into the ground for years to come. Highly recommended due to the extremely high gas prices. You will not be disappointed!

  • Bang for the buck! - 2008 Honda Civic

Ive been having nothing but fun driving this car. Moved from a civic EX to the Si. No regrets whatsoever...so far. Of course, Im taking a hit on MPG, but not nearly as bad as I thought. On the road, my scan gauge is averaging 35 mpg each day. Thats mostly highway. But is this fun to drive. Makes my daily commute much more enjoyable. Bought it new for $18,129. Excellent price!! And its great looking. Really happy with the deal.

  • 06 HCH is an engineering joy- a true gem - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

Ive owned numerous Civics, including two CR-Vs over the past 18 years, so I highly respect Honda reliability and engineering. Honda has never let me down. For the past year I drove a MINI Cooper S, but realized it was too small/rough/had reliability/issues (but, oh, so fun). So, after researching the 06 Civics, I took an HCH w/NAVI for a test drive. Love at first sight/first drive. You wont believe the improvement Honda has made in the Civics quietness, and handling. The cockpit is the most ergonomic Ive experienced. The driving experience is Zen like because this HCH is smooth, and stopping at red lights is a "rest period" with the Auto-Stop. Best car Ive had in 35 years of ownership.

If you remember the commercial about the guy that was going to live in his car of a week. I have topped that in this Civic. My mom, niece and I took a 6500 mile road trip across 18 states in 11 days. I did most of the driving and Im about 61, I was comfortable the entire time. We averaged about 37 miles to the gallon and were fully loaded (heavy enough to see how low the back was) driving through the mountians it still handled better than I ever could have asked for. We also have a 2004 Civic VP and have never had any problem with either car in any way.

I got an LX Sedan (didnt want the sunroof on the EX) and LOVE the car. Plenty of room for all my friends, well, 4 of them anyway. Car is very comfortable and the gas mileage is fantastic. The only thing I wish was better is the AC. I live in Phoenix and it takes a little while for the AC to overcome some of the 115* days we have. Once it gets going, or on cooler days, it works perfect. Overall I love the car and would highly recommend it to anyone.
