Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • I love this car! - 2003 Honda Civic

Extremely well built car. Manual trans scoots around. So far Ive had nothing go wrong or need to be fixed or even adjusted. I just put Michelin tires on it and it changed the ride dramatically for the better. If I had known this I would have done it when I bought the car. The OE tires were weak but didnt wear out quickly. Well, one issue is that the CD player can heat up on a hot day and cause a crackling on the audio output. To me it has been a minor issue that Ive ignored. Ive experienced this on other cars so.....What can you say about a car that has never had a single problem in over 4 years?

This is a really great car. I have had no mechanical problems with it at all. On the highway (55 mph) my LX (not hybrid) gets 47 mpg! It is about 30 mpg around town. The only two problems Ive had? The car is VERY noisy driving down the road. In the job I just left, I would drive three 1-hr roundtrips and two 4-hr roundtrips. It killed my back. My legs would be nearly numb when I got to work.

  • best car ive owned - 1998 Honda Civic

Ive owned my honda ex for about 8 years and i can honestly say that it has been the best car i have ever owned. Ive put 286,000 miles on it and yes ive had to put some money into it. eventually things wear out however, it has never "broken down" on me and i have never had to worry about it starting. The only flaw with this vehicle that i can see is that the exhaust rusts out quickly. other than that scheduled maintenance is all this baby needs to run like a top!! i have had to get frequent alignments but that could be my driving or the roads in maine or both. if i could wish for an improvement it would be a quieter ride. other than that i have no complains. handles well, mpg about 33 highway.

  • So far so good - 2006 Honda Civic

I just bought this car a few days ago and am very pleased with it. It is fun to drive and great on gas. The navigation system is great-I couldnt find any similar models that offered it. This is my 2nd Civic and there was never even a reason for me to consider other cars. The new dash design is very cool and steering wheel controls are very convenient. The only thing I wasnt thrilled about was the drink holder - they are located in the center console and get very warm after driving for awhile. This is probably due to the electronic equipment but it will make a cold drink warm after awhile. All in all, very happy with this car and I highly recommend it!

Ive only had the car for about a week, but Im thoroughly impressed. The 8th generation Civic is everything I couldve imagined and more...its WAY too much "bang for your buck". I think the major improvements over the 7th gen Civic (which I was set on before hearing the "redesign" rumor in February) are the two-tier dash, backseat room/comfort, maintenance minder system, engine performance/efficiency, and the elegant yet aggressive styling. Just ask my friends--Im like an unofficial spokesman. This car is an automotive marvel.

Leased car two weeks ago. Superior road handling--steering is sports car responsive. Car is very quiet and very comfy on long trip. Drove over 600 miles over Memorial Day road trip. MPG for the trip was just over 39. My commute is 50 miles round trip and have been thrilled to have made the decision to lease this car. Very reasonable payments--under $275 per month. I will have to drive my old car a few days a month to stay under 15K miles per year, but that is O.K.-- gives my wife a chance to drive it occasionally. Dealer experience was very positive.

I have a 07 Honda Civ & I have had several problems.I had to have my front brake pads/rotors replaced after just over a & 10Kmi. I received a recall for the steering column & ABS Wheel Sensor. My calipers stick & Honda told me that it was not under warranty. This is a major car part that PREMATURELY wears down the brake pads. My VERY trusted mechanic informed me that he noticed a lot of problems with Hondas braking system. I will NEVER buy another one. I got all of the factory scheduled maintenance including regular oils changes. I only drive this car to school & work,9K mi/yr, & in CA so the weather has never been a factor. My car may be 1 of a few lemons, but it is DEFIANTLY a LEMON!!!!

My Honda Civic VP is a very reliable vehicle. It gets great gas mileage, up to 40 mph by my estimates. I drive 70 miles roundtrip daily for work and we use this car for every trip around town and out of state. Weve never had a problem.

  • Very Fun & Great Looking - 2007 Honda Civic

I bought a black Civic Si sedan. Its very fun to drive and is pretty quick if you rev it to 8000. I wanted white but all they had was a black one with 4 miles, right off the truck. Its great looking but black is a lot of work.
