Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Awesome quality car - 2008 Honda Civic

I currently have about 800 miles on this car and computer indicates average of 48mpg which is a few mpgs lower than calculated fuel economy. Coasting in neutral on downhills will improve mpg. I had to change driving habits to get the high fuel economy. Driving like a granny also means I am less stressed out driving. The dealer had the tire pressure set to 25 psi which is very low. Once I increased to 40 psi, my mpg increased by about 10%. Back seats are comfortable and roomy. Styling is beautiful. Handling is also excellent. I test drove a Prius which I also liked but the Civic beats the Prius in styling and handling, as well as pricing.

This car is great. The LX has everything I would want in a car. The price may be a little more than the Corolla, but I feel the quality isnt even comparable. The ride is SMOOTH. I have the automatic and the shifts are so smooth you cant feel them sometimes. I LOVE everything about this. I have no complaints thus far

bought base model ( lightest, nothing power but brakes, no options ) for 10800.- Put AEM airintake for better breathing and 10 more hp, sport springs and -shocks ( stiffer and 1.5" lower ), front and rear -swaybars, front strut towerbar, 15" alloys w. 195/55-15 -V rated performance tires, all for much improved handling, race breakpads in front to compensate for weak rear drumbrakes . Total cost for improvements : $ 3000.- Overall result: a small ,light, fast, good handling, cheap car with 40 mls. plus mileage, very reliable and lots of fun !! A 9.5 overall for sure.

The 5 speed manual takes a bit of getting used to (about a day or two), but once youre there, it just proves again that Honda produces one of the best combinations of manual tansmissions and engines. This car has the body and suspension to go with it - I picked the car up and brought it home on a freeway at night. Lets just say I didnt realize how fast I was going, even with the large speedometer staring me in the face. I was surprised when I finally took a peek at the speed. Slowed down immediately and put on the cruise control. No vibrations, very little road noise. Doesnt ride or sound like a small car.

  • Cant find anything wrong with it - 2003 Honda Civic

I just love my car. All opinions are subjective according to the driver. So for my needs this car is perfect in every way. Enough power for my driving needs, very comfortable-smooth ride for a car of its size, quiet and roomy-very attractive looking. What can I say - and its very economical and the price was right. Whats not to like?

great starter car for my daughter...she loves it and so do I

Great reliable car that handles the commute very well. Gas milage was a big reason I bought it and it has lived up to my expectations. The 5-speed is fun to drive with short tight shifts.

  • Nice car, However... - 2001 Honda Civic

Like all Hondas, this one is bullet proof. However, the ride is very rough. You will feel every bump. Hitting bumps send shock waves through the car. After driving this car for two years, I have figured out where all the bumps are on my way to work. My 1995 Civic had a much better ride. So I plan to trade it in for a different Honda (Pilot). Too bad, because this car has a lot going for it.
