Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  This is the 1st new car I have ever purchased and the 1st Honda I have ever owned. I have always respected the quality that Honda cars represent -- and now I understand why it is actually so deserved. Plus, it is just damn fun to drive. Feeling like I made one of the best choices I have ever made in my adult life purchasing my Honda Civic. I love it. (Its almost sick.)

  Ill never get another Honda again - 1999 Honda Civic

  This was the first new car Ive ever owned and it is the last Honda I will ever own. What a lemon! Ive had the entire electrical system replaced TWICE and still there are problems. I put the car in park, the radio shuts off. I press the cruise control, the dome light comes on. The engine cuts out or just wont start for no reason, I cant go over 50 mph with the AC on or it shoots to 5000 rpm, and the body quality is pathetic. I was "bumped" by an SUV at about 1 mph and it caused over $1500 in damages. I only wish he had hit me harder and totalled the car so I would never have to deal with it again. Not Honda, never again.

  i sold my integra gsr, and bought this little rocket. its not as fast as the gsr, and its not quite as fun to drive. i think i like it better, though. the interior is better than that of ANY car that costs less than $50,000. the seats? you cant beat them. while this car usually comes in in the middle of the pack in shootouts, one thing to consider, is that this car is cheaper (mine was $17,300), and all the others come w/ 17" X 7" wheels. the civic comes with 15" X 6"s. with the same wheel and tire setup as the others, i think the civic would win most of these camparos. when you factor in hondas reliability and resale value, you cant go wrong.

  I love to drive this car. The ride is very good for a small car and the gas mileage is excellent, 32 in town and 38 miles to the gallon on the road. Also very little noise on the inside.

  Almost - 2007 Honda Civic

  Probably the nicest Honda product Ive owned, but you can feel that there was more cost-cutting here than in the past, as while there are more features, the car doesnt seem as sturdy as previous models. Also, there are some glitches like a notchy, recalcitrant third gear and the strange surge from drive-by-wire when cold and the car isnt as smooth to shift as past Hondas Ive owned.

  I am so glad I bought this car. Not only do I get great gas mileage, but man is this car fun to drive. I totally love everything about this car. It is fast, handles great, comfortable, and it looks fantastic. If you want a great sports car for a low price. I suggest you buy a Honda Civic SI, and be satisfied like me. I have not even pushed this car to see what it can really do yet. I am still breaking it in.

  This is my 3rd civic this generation and I have to tell you they are one of the best Hondas come out with. The body and paint are in excellent shape, nothings wrong with it, pass smog all day long. You can beat the hell out of them and they still keep coming back for some more miles.
