Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

The car is fantastic - everything I hoped for. Its not a performance car, but you knew that. Great MPG, very comfortable in the front seat.

  • EX-L with Nav excellent - 2012 Honda Civic

Purchased 2012 EX-L with Nav. Great car! Drove back from Columbus, OH got 46 mpg using econ mode averaging 65 mph. Overall 38mpg for first tank. Technology is great, nav system and bluetooth excellent. Interior very quiet for small car, leather is very nice and seats comfortable. Always bought Toyotas til now.

  • Love my civic - 2008 Honda Civic

I bought my Civic in December after my last car died. I have to say I have been impressed from day one. I was looking for a good fuel efficient car with decent look and en even better price. Honda has impressed me all the may. The gas mileage is great particularly in the stop and go rush hour traffic. The interior is roomy and comfortable with plenty of leg room. I have not heard the loud road noise that some reviewers complain about. This is my first Honda but I know it wont be my last.

  • Very Reliable Car - 2001 Honda Civic

Bought this car because I wanted a reliable ride and that is exactly what I got. It does have rattles as other reviews point out and thats annoying, but that is about it. It rides nicely and I get 38 highway and about 29 to 30 in the city. Not too bad. The ride is extremely smooth. My next car will most likely be another Honda.

  • Very unsatisfied - 2007 Honda Civic

I have been disappointed with this car since I bought it. The interior is poor quality and has a low comfort level. The inside door panels scratch easily. The seats and headrests are very uncomfortable. The a/c vents are too close to the steering wheel and my hands freeze. The road noise is awful. It sounds like the windows are down or there is a gap somewhere. However, there are a few things I do like about the car and they are listed in the "favorites" box.

  • Hybrid 2005 - 2005 Honda Civic

Like everything about the car. Gets great gas mileage, about 37 mpg combined. Its a nice alternative to the Prius which has a weird display in the middle of the car. Wish the seats were softer but can always get a little cushion. I am very very happy with this car.

  • "Red Bull" among 21K pocket rockets - 2007 Honda Civic
    By -

I call it the RedBull because this car gives you wings. Learn how to shift through the smooth but precise 6 gates and this car rewards you with fun no other 21K car offers. And the exhaust is just right..Intrusive sometimes but pump up the volume on the stereo.. Not recommended for families expecting kids or with babies. Suspension is bit too tight and jarring most of the time unless roads are silky smooth.Rewards the driver but passengers with weak stomachs might have issues. Cross-shopped with the GTI. GTI is a better car if you want a well-rounded family car. This one is strictly for drivers and maybe occasional passengers. Lack of torque shows with a full load of passengers & ac.

Traded a Buick Lucerne during the 4 dollar gas crisis last summer. Even though it is now $2.50 it was still worth it. The car delivers the promised mileage plus if you drive it right. Accelerate slowly, stay at 70 or below and you will get 45-50mpg. On a recent trip with a tail wind and flat road we got 53mpg. On a recent 1,500 mile drive I was just as comfortable in the Civic as I would have been in the Lucerne

  • Transmission rebuild at 80K - 2001 Honda Civic
    By -

I bought the Civic for its reputation for reliability buying an 01 and getting the first year of a new model turned out to be a bad thing. Got a great price on a cute little red coupe that, honest to God, had only been driven 3K miles in 2 years by a little old man. Couldnt believe my luck, loved my car very much and planned to buy another new Civic someday, until the transmission suddenly mangled up and died for no reason at 80000 miles. Three thousand dollars in repair costs that I cant afford. According to what Ive read online, the 01s tend to do this to people. Thanks a lot, Honda, youve lost a future customer. Toyota and VW look pretty good right now!

  • Total Reliability - 2004 Honda Civic

A pleasure to drive. The definition of dependablity. Fantastic gas mileage. Remember people choose to buy cars w/ poor mileage & pay out the nose. Not me. Its a quick, cute car. I drive a flawless manual. I have bought one set of new tires and change the oil regularly. No maintenance problems to speak of despite hard driving and a lot of travel.
