Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

I bought this car new and have owned it almost three years. Its hard to express my satisfaction! My last three tanks of gas got 37, 39, and 41 mpg, which is normal. The car has more than adequate power, the ride is smooth, the road noise is about right for this class of car. So far the car has worked perfectly, only routine maintenance, which is easy to do yourself. This quality of this car feels better than the new Civic.

  • Fun Little Car! - 2008 Honda Civic

I have had this car a couple week now and i love driving it everyday. This is the second SI Ive own and really like Honda vehicles. The 4door sedan has enough room for my family of 4 with 2 car seats in back. I have been getting on average about 27 MPG and that is with some hard driving every now and then. The beauty about the car is that you can have a fuel economy car and then rev the engine a little higher and get a quick ride. The engine sounds great when your get above 5000 rpm. The 2 tier dash takes a little getting used to but definitely stands out from the crowd. The premium stereo sounds pretty darn good and the interior has a nice fit and finish. Very happy with my SI.

  • I had forgotten driving could be fun! - 2008 Honda Civic

I have wanted to purchase a Honda for a long time & always ended up buying something else because you could get more "amenities" for the money. Then I bought a Volkswagon Jetta VR6 & got a LEMON! Forget about amenities! This car is awesome. I was worried about driving a car with a manual transmission after driving automatics for 10+ years. No problem, this car makes it fun.

  • Ill never go back to gas only . . . - 2005 Honda Civic

I love this car. Love sitting at a stop and knowing that I am not like all the cars around me pumping pollution into the air, because I am on the electric motor. I used to have a lead foot, and now I have more fun trying to get great mileage instead. I love competing with myself from one tank of gas to the next to try and get better and better mileage. So far the best tank of gas was 62.8 mpg and the worst was about 42 mpg. I have one tach that I havent reset since I purchased her. Currently it says I am averaging 51.8 miles per gallon over the life of the car.

  • Equalizer - 2005 Honda Civic

I put on over 100 miles a day, 70 on the hwy and 30 in town. Since I bought my Honda Civic (5 speed stick) 2 months ago I have a cumulative average of 48 mpg. This has made our move out to the country make much more sense. I named the car the Equalizer.

  • Amazing reliability - 1995 Honda Civic
    By -

Well I will miss my little red Civic. I bought it new in 1995, the only owner it ever had. A young girl decided that she had to plow into me from behind last week and totalled it and now I am car shopping. But I never had to do anything to this car other than the routine maintenance. It would have gone another 100k miles easily. I recommend this years model (or any Civic model) enthusiastically to anyone looking to buy a used car!

  • best mileage you can get in 4 door car - 2005 Honda Civic
    By -

An awesome Honda that combines 4 door, multi person capability with totally awesome mpg with the 5 speed. Mine has over 80 K miles and I frequently get 80 + mpg on hiwy with cautious speeds (not exceed limit of 55). Special driving techniques also gives 60++ mpg suburban driving ! Easily goes over 800 miles per tankful on regular gas.

  • Pretty Good So Far! - 2008 Honda Civic

Ive only had my car a couple weeks so its hard to comment on things like MPG. Still on the first tank of gas, and Ive gotten 170+ miles and the gauge is still a tad bit above 1/2. But everything is great about this car. The interior is so much nicer than the other cars I tested, but I did notice a couple small fit and finish issues, but nothing major. I will have to get used to not being able to see the hood of my car so itll be a bit of a pain to parallel park for a while here. Ill also have to mention the manual gearbox as it has a pretty short and precise shifting action and feels good. The clutch is pretty user friendly for a newbie like me and overall the car feels pretty sporty.

  • Little bugs and small problems - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

This is a great car,i really like the two tier dash design of both digital and analog readouts. I had this car since November 2005. I replaced the SRS side airbag passenger side indicator, there are some slight rattles,i needed a new glovebox side airbag covers on the seats started to pop out/off. The Drive by wire throttle system really hinders drivability its like BMWs idrive system it makes the car jerk around. These problems are expected to be on a first model year car,it happens and i know now not to buy another first year model car only after its been released for 8 months to a year so the manufacturer can address the problems and fix them.
