Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Reliable, but uncomfortable,noisy - 2005 Honda Civic

I have owned my Honda Civic EX Coupe now for over 2 years, and found it is not the car for me. Found this out after renting a 2007 Mazda3 for a week, and discovered it is much more comfortable, more responsive turning and brakes, fabulous interior instrumentation! Over time, have found the Civic difficult to get in and out of, seats very uncomfortable, and long distance trips are painful. Biggest complaint is road noise! Ive driven on the highway and been unable to hear conversations with other passengers, or music unless it is very loud! Would not purchase this car again.

I.m writing this with about 500 miles on it. Feels solid, well built, yet nimble enough for point-and-shoot driving. You dont drive this car, you wear it. It fits very well! Love the intelligent automatic that holds a higher gear when running downhill. Engine and trans are well-mated. Shifts are seamless and go unoticed. Even when revving hard, motor doesnt sound strained. All-wheel disc brakes work very well, but are difficult to modulate. They bite hard with the slightest touch. Knobs and buttons well located, easy to use with a rich feel. Im 510", 170lbs and I can sit comfortably and well-positioned relative to steering, pedals, and other controls. My teenager and I love this car!

  • DD Awesome, Project even better! - 1995 Honda Civic

The car is a great car. I have whipped the snot out of this car on pavement, dirt and snow. Haddles so well and the replacement parts are so cheap. Come on 30 Bucks for struts? So simple. Not to mechion the car is a cake walk to work on. I love this car because you can beat and beat on it. It will not only take it but ask for more. When your done you can turn it off, work on it and learn about a simple car in the mean time and drive it the next day cause its like working with legos so easy!

  • Easy to tune - 1991 Honda Civic

Bought this thing after it was beat on to crap. Very easy to fix up and modify. Great entry level auto-x ride. Wishbone suspension by far beats the econo macpherson setup of the newer gen. Stock sohc engine is worthless, but again, easy to replace and swap out. Prone to lots of rust with its age. Very little maintanence needed if its just transportation that you need. Very light, with an engine swap and an adjustable suspension and you have yourself a good sporty car. Parts are interchangeable with integras which adds to the availability of parts. A lot can be done to the car despite its age.

  • My Honda meets my expectations - 2007 Honda Civic

My previous vehicle was a luxury SUV which I only used to go back and forth to work. I purchased this vehicle because of the fuel economy and reliability of a Honda. I am completely satisfied with my choice at this time. I have about 1000 miles on the car and my fuel economy is 34 mpg which more than doubles my SUV. I have only driven the car to and from work and have not yet been on a highway. I havent found anything wrong with the vehicle to this point. I am very pleased and a little surprised with the pep this car has. I would highly recommend this car for someone looking for an excellent commuter vehicle

There is no true power in this car unless you add your own, and thus void the warranty. I have had this car for over a year, with no technical problems. The panels are thin and you can expect many dings and paint scratches. There are many little irritants i have with this car, such as the ugliest interior fabric, the air conditioner stinks and blows warm air when on medium-high, the seats will easily "click" out of place. I am rumbling about the little things but swear by the Honda name. I want to move up to a Honda Accord EX in the very near future, Im just plain bored with the Civic. I just hope i dont put the money into something just like the Civic.

When the Stang got wrecked, I decided to get a hybrid because its the responsible thing to do. Of the hybrids available, The styling on the Civic was best--it looked "normal". I cant be happier. Car had 1 mile on it & now has 1050 miles. I drive in suburban areas in Orlando and am achieving about 43- 47mph. Didnt get this the first couple of hundred miles (probably all the demo rides I gave friends), but do now, & lately its been even better. This is a comfortable car and very fun to drive. The dynamic gauges make me very attune to "bad" driving habits. This is a great hybrid example for other car companies to follow. HELLO FORD? HELLO GM?

  • Very Good car for less money - 2006 Honda Civic

Bought 2006 Honda Civic EX, 4dr, Auto on 11/10/2005. It has very futuristic interior and a very gorgeous aerodynamic body. It definitely stands out in the traffic. However, 2006 Toyota Corolla has optional vehicle stability control and traction control features.I also compared it with 2006 Mazda 3 and civic has less hp than 2.3 LT Mazda 3.Ride is bumpier than Chevy Cobalt or Toyota Camry. Remote Keyless entry system started malfunctioning within 2/3 Weeks. Dealer lubed the locks but the problem again surfaced today -Am I unfortunate or a genuine problem ?!

  • Excellent Car - 2005 Honda Civic

I really like the handling of the Honda Civic Hybrid. Excellent gas mileage, great looks, sporty feel with the manual 5 speed. looks like a regular Civic which is great... Unlike the Toyota Prius - ugly.... I love it!

  • Loved this car - 2000 Honda Civic

Got this car brand new on 07/2007 with 8 mi on it and it drove strong for another 160000 miles until it got stolen and dumped in a river (broke my heart). I loved this car. It was the cheapest car on the lot, but it treated me well. Changed the oil every 4 to 5000 miles. Paint still looked new. Here are the things that went wrong: cracked exhaust manifold after 2 yrs, A/C compressor went out after 6 yrs, drivers side window went off track after 7 yrs. Otherwise, absolutely no other problems. Very reliable, and Im going to stick with Honda. This car has a lot of character. Other imports always wanted to race my stock Civic, and I cant tell you how many times people asked to buy my car.
