Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

Ive owned Honda cars for years, but this is my first Civic. Pros: Stylish car, nice ride and performance, dependable Honda quality, good gas mileage. Con: A very deep dashboard makes it and the window difficult to clean if you are petite like me. Automatic door- locking feature interferes with accessibility after exiting the car and then trying to retrieve something inside the car.

  • Good Car, but Pricey - 2008 Honda Civic

I just purchased my Civic EX-L two weeks ago. My previous car was a Maxima so this is very different. The Civic is no longer a cheap car to buy. The final price was over 22K. It is probably worth it though. The coupe is fun to drive and handles the road well. The car gets around 26 miles to the gallon so far in city driving using regular grade gas. Most of the controls are easy to use. The steering wheel is in the way of the tachometer (located on the lower tier of the dashboard). I dont need to see it anyway. The only problems so far are a dashboard rattle and the drivers side door handle keeps loosening. There is also a big blind spot in the coupe.

  • Its pretty good, but not that great. - 2005 Honda Civic

Well I bought my Civic on February. The tranny is a little clucky, my gas mileage wilds out sometimes, and my engine sometimes doesnt start(coldstarts). Other than that the car is pretty nice. I would suggest a lot more horsepower for newer models and they did that already. LX owners if you think 127 hp V-Tec engine is better, its really not. The new Civic is going to come with 140 hp. But I wish I waited and get the new Civic Coupe Si with 200 Hp V-Tec. Now thats engine power!

  • Great little car! - 2007 Honda Civic

I just bought my first Civic and love it! It fits me better than any car I have ever driven and is so fun to drive. Honda has done a great job with lumbar supports in the seat, the interior design with smooth metallic buttons instead of cheap plastic dials, and cruise controls in the steering wheel. The engine is very quiet and peppy. The split display with blue lighting is easy on the eyes and the more I drive it, the more I like having the spedometer at eye level. I drive about 3000 miles a month and am getting 38 miles a gallon this first month. I like the wide view from the windshield and how it comfortably fit four adults. I highly reccommend this car!

  • Excellent commuter car! - 2003 Honda Civic

I own/have owned various cars and this is the best commuter car in my experience. Very nice, comfy and easy ride for an economy car. The EX has great head room and the seats are adequate - typical in Hondas. The ergonomic controls are excellent. And you cant beat the gas mileage.

Never had a problem with the car. Gas mileage is great still get 29 on the highway. Never had it in for any work. I drive it a 100 miles a day and its just as fun to drive now as it was when I first bought it. Ill buy Hondas from now on.

  • A good car ! - 2008 Honda Civic

So far a good car (6k miles already), engine is powerful for a small car! Noise on highways better than earlier models. However shifting in lower gears is kinda rough, more of an annoyance than anything!

  • hi tech cost for a low price car - 2003 Honda Civic

lots of loose pieces and parts that vibrate and rattle (poor construction). xtremely uncomfy seat that a $4 pillow wouldnt fix. all the cheaper regular civics have better seats (we have found out too late). My right leg/knee gets very sore after 30 miles. we selling this car. Honda answered all our questions with "I dont know" and no offer to find out.

  • Great Car - but a worse car than pre 01 - 2003 Honda Civic
    By -

Having owned a 1999 Honda Civic, Im frustated by two things that are extreme pit-peeves of my new 2002 Civic. One, the material SUCKS! It acts like a lint brush, and just as hard to clean. Change the material honda. Second, get rid of the 140MPH Speedodometer!!! That kind of sports- oriented guage belongs in a real sports car e.g. SIs. My daughter is trying to learn to drive, and its difficult for her to tell where the 5mph increments are. Lastly, the new 2002 Civics suspension is too harsh. My teeth chatter everytime I hit a small bump in the road.
