Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

I have been driving this car for 4 months now and still look forward to driving it each time I get in. It handles very well, very comfortable, and high quality construction.

If your ethinking about buying this car, just do it. I never had a single problem with it since a year of ownership and its almost 9 years old. (the most relible car I have ever came across even more than some other Hondas Ive owned) Dohc Vtec is very fun and the handling is amazing. The only downside of this Japanese perfection is that it gets a lot of attention from people and theives. Im scared to leave it parked in the mall due to it getting attention. Just recently I went to a dealership to look for a car for a friend. And the salesman was all over my si:) I think he wanted to buy it. This car will be a classic in about 5 years so they are worth holding on to.

I bought this after my husband got his VP(aka cheap cheap package). I have a higher model but it is nothing great. Sunroof is noisy, rattles and squeaky all over. The fuel economy is awesome and for now this car will do but I prefer my Maxima anyday.

This is a very good car. After having tested several other vehicles, I decided upon this car as many have told me that it is reliable. I commuter about 100 miles a day, and I average close to 35MPG. The interior design is nice, yet I feel it is a bit extreme. Seat comfort is good and I have no problems driving for more than an hour. My wife took this car to work one day and she loved it. It must be great considering that she drives a Mercedes E320. Once gas prices go back down, I am planning to buy a Mercedes ML 320. I used to have one, but the gas bill was excessive.

This car is fantastic. I bought a 2005 lx special edition 2 door coupe and I love it. Its quick, looks great, and with Hondas reliability you cant go wrong.

14 years flew by so fast. I clearly remember the day I purchased this car. A day after my 22nd birthday. Just a few weeks ago I was talking about how I want to keep this car forever but on Oct 26, 2007 with over 182000 miles on it, a deer abruptly ended it. The 30+ miles to a gallon with an average maintenance cost of less than $600 per year will definitely be felt and missed. If there is a Hall of Fame for cars this one no doubt will be inducted. I am not saying this car is perfect, just like any mechanical device it had its malfunctions but none of them major. It stranded me once due to a blown computer chip but overall it met my expectations of reliability, build, and economy.

Bought this car with dealer added options paying 5,000 over sticker. Bad decision! Not only does this Civic NOT have the comfort as my old 2000 Civic, it has depreciated faster. The same dealer will only give me 10,5000 for a car that list for 17k new, not to mention the add ons they dont give credit for, where the sticker on the old Civic was also 17k and two years later was worth 11,500.00 trade in and 13.5k-14.5k retail. 2002 Civic is uncomfortable for long rides, feel every bump in the road, doesnt feel as tight driving as the old Civic model, just has not been a good experience other than good gas mileage and Hondas usual mechanical reliability.

Dont believe the epa ratings on the car. According to the epa mileage is 41/45 according to consumer reports mileage is 37 combined. After 6500 miles I am averaging 51 miles and as the weather has warmed my last two tank fulls were 57 and currently 62!! You will only receive these numbers if you learn to drive very conservatively but the good news is the instant mpg feedback indicator make this easy to do. This car rides as smooth and quiet and handles just as well as my 31,000 dollar Nissan Maxima. Interior room is adequate, I have 3 teenage boys and they never complain about the backseat. Finally if you dont mind a blue haired elderly lady passing you uphill as you try to save mileage GREAT

Actually I leased the car for one reason, fuel cost. I do have a 4x4 truck for bad weather etc. The car is what I expected, good fuel economy (44 mpg avg.) It does lack power of course, but back in the 80s I had a VW Rabbit Diesel, this car far exceeds the VW. I have the car for 3 months and in all fairness I made the right move. Finally took it on a trip, you better stretch out every 2 or 3 hours, or your back will be hurting. The seat feel comfortable, but you sit too low and they are not very comfortable in the long haul. Drove it on I-84 up and down grades with the a/c on, it did bog down at 65 MPH but you can get used to that. Did almost 50 mpg , very pleased.
