Overview & Reviews
Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.
The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

Do some of you test drive first??? - 2001 Honda Civic
By matt5214 - November 12 - 2:00 amI was just curious to know if the people who wrote about how much noise the civic makes ever test drove the car before buying???? It only makes sense that you would, and then to not notice that it supposedly has horrible noise issues???? I suspect some posts may be from the same people.

Wow- if I were in college - 2001 Honda Civic
By Mike - November 12 - 1:06 amThis little car has taken me everywhere, anywhere. Im USAF, and Ive driven this car coast to coast twice. Right now, she and I are in South Korea. Before we left, I had her totaly checked over. Comments from the professional mechanic: "Your car is nearly brand new..." (2007). She has been great. If the hybrid got a lot more milelage I would think about switching. Until then, Ill see you in Seoul! Mike

Loving the Civic - 2016 Honda Civic
By speff - November 11 - 3:11 amAll is great. Hard to believe that much car for the money. It has all the toys, great performance, and great gas mileage. Lovin it. One caveat...Apple CarPlay is not 100% reliable. It crashes or gets bugs every once in awhile. It could be more reliable. Great when it works.

9-Month Review - 2009 Honda Civic
By Canadia - November 9 - 2:06 pmOverall Im very pleased with the Civic. Fuel economy has exceeded my expectations, and the car is very nimble and fun to drive with the manual. The seats are also very comfortable, and theres plenty of room for me (511") even with the seat raised to its highest position. I would have rated it with 10s across the board if it werent for a few things: 1) Either drive-by-wire or the VTEC mechanism makes acceleration under certain conditions somewhat choppy and abrupt. 2) Theres a creaking noise coming from the front suspension, and a rattle coming from the rear of the car. I cant determine the source of either. 3) Thin paint.

Reliable puppy - 1999 Honda Civic
By Hobbes - November 9 - 8:12 amI owned this puppy from new. Never been stranded so far. Maintained always at Honda dealers. Flooded out once only to the wet carpet level in a car park! Lose wire which I fixed myself using an ODBII scanner. Great MPG, average over 30. Spend only about $US 18 per week and that is with gasoline at US $3.29 a gallon!

What a ball to drive!!!! - 2004 Honda Civic
By Michael R. Northcutt - November 8 - 2:00 amI took delivery on 2-1-04, and i have been tickled ever since. From the moment i first drove it, i knew i wanted it. The dash lights are so neat in blue, and all is laid out so that you know what is going on with the Engine, and electric motor.I too wish it had a sun roof, but i can live without it. CVT transmision is so smooth, you dont feel anything. 500 hundred miles or so on a tank of 13.2 gallons of Reg.gas is amazing.

A Good Thing in a Small Package - 1995 Honda Civic
By chadbo - November 7 - 10:00 amThe thing that I liked about my Honda Civic SI hatchback from the start is its quickness. No, its not a racer but it can get out of its own way easy enough. It handles well for a half- tuned econo hatch. The sheet metal is really thin though. It dents like an aluminium can.

Great Technology - 2010 Honda Civic
By 6gftbp - November 6 - 11:53 pmOk you may not have a CNG station near you....but this is great technology. Virtually all US supplied gas. Clean burning and filling is as easy as any gas car. Great tax and car pool benefits and best of all it is a Honda Civic. It takes a little effort but there are wonderful rewards owning one.

Like the car so far - 2016 Honda Civic
By Tim - November 6 - 8:49 pmMoving from a Prius, the new Civic has impressed me on several counts. Ive owned the Civic for 3 weeks and this is what I can say. The ride is much smoother and the infotainment is comprehensive for a car in this class. The turbo engines got a pep to it and accelerates nicely where the Prius toiled (with both cars in Eco mode). No comparison however wrt gas mileage: with Prius I consistently achieved 44-52 mpg, the Civic gives 28-35 mpg (from dash indicators). Lanewatch can be distracting (might get used to it eventually) and not very useful at night. Honda Sensing is a bit of a hit or miss: in traffic, ACC stops the car aggressively (hard braking where easing up on the accelerator would do) and resumes slowly, taking a while to catch up to the car in front so I always use the accelerator pedal. LKAS requires clear road markings or it turns off. The LKAS self-steering on the freeway is not always reliable and can understeer you off your lane, so be careful ! Maybe Honda will upgrade the Sensing sofware to deal with the above issues whence the extra cost would be justified. But as a car, it is quite fun to drive and comfortable, that was lacking in previous Honda Civics Ive owned or driven.

Impressed - 2007 Honda Civic
By DMW - November 6 - 3:03 pmLeased for my commute to work, but found that this car is a good weekend car as well for every day tasks. Happy about the comfort, looks, reliability, and handling. Disappointed with the performance, the clutch, and lack of a 6th gear for cruising. My gas mileage has suffered because when driving above 65 mph on my commute, the small 1.8L, 4 cyl engine is working extra hard with the rpms at 3800-4000; which is why a 6th gear is needed. The clutch needs improvement and I know I cant expect much from 140 HP, and 128 ft-lbs of TQ, a few more ponies should be added. Interior dash is eye catching, and the mp3 capability is welcomed. A/C vents need to be moved. Get rid of hubcaps please!
