Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.
The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

Great Car - 2004 Honda Civic
By Kyle - November 28 - 2:51 pmThis car is one of the best cars Ive owned. Almost no complaints. Great gas mileage, almost 35 mpg, looks greats and runs amazing. Off the line it can keep up with most 6 cylinder cars. Mine is only a 4. The tires that came with it were too soft. Needed to be replaced way too soon. Also, its hard to see out the back when backing and theres a big blind spot when changing lanes. Not the best winter car. My gas line constantly freezes and since the car is so light, it can be very hard to keep control in snow. Suggest putting a little weight in the car for snow. Otherwise the car is great. During summer, can open sun roof and windows, and enjoy a nice drive. All in All, great car!

Not A Very Reliable Car! - 2001 Honda Civic
By Steve - November 27 - 6:44 pmI also bought the Civic for its reliability, but the overall experience has been somewhat of a nightmare. It all started when the struts went at about 65,000miles. Then at 85,000 miles alternator went. Then at 93,000 miles the switches to the windows went. The lining in the bck is coming apart over the rear passengers. The SRS light came on around 124,000 miles because of the seatbelt buckle. Now the big kicker the transmission is going at around 126,000 miles 5th gear pops out for no reason at all while driving. From what I read from other reviews, I will needing a new transmission. If that is the case the car is getting traded in!! I will never buy another Honda!

I love this car! - 2006 Honda Civic
By stratcat99 - November 27 - 7:53 amThe best part is the mileage. You just cant beat it. It has a sleeker feel than older civics that I have driven. Seats are very comfortable, and I fit well in it. I am 6 5" so that was surprising. I love the look of the new dash. I got the manual trans, and I like the feel of the shifter. The car surprised me with the amount of power it had off the line, but the power noticably diminishes the faster you go. I am getting about 35 MPG, so I am very happy with that. I also like the Aux input for the stereo. The system sounds good, too. I highly recomend it.

By Durer - November 26 - 11:50 amThe Honda Civic EX Special Edition Coupe is a really terrific sporty little car, but its missing just one thing... oomph! I mean, it zips around just fine, vroom, vroom, and all that, but when you put your foot down, and I mean really put your foot down, it just doesnt respond like you want it to. I, personally, think a little sport coupe like this should throw you back in your seat and take off like a bat out of hell when you punch it, but the Civic just doesnt. Other than that, though, its a totally terrific vehicle, thumbs up and 4-stars all the way

Gas Saver - 2005 Honda Civic
By clecakes - November 25 - 2:36 pmGreat dependable car. I have gotten as high as 52.9 MPG. Driving on secondary flat roads at 45-55 MPG. I never got less that 43MPG and thats with the A/C going full blast. I am getting an average of 47MPG over the past 7,000 miles. I am 6-1" and I have plenty of head and leg room. I have no trouble keeping up with traffic at interstate speeds and the car will run along with ease at 80 MPH. Gas mileage suffers above 70MPH. Handles like a dream which makes me wonder why everyone isnt driving one. I drive it every day and with the price of gas at $3.20 per gallon this vehicle is a real money saver.
