Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Qualtiy concerns - 2002 Honda Civic

Great gas mileage (40 mpg highway) and fairly decent drivability are the only good thing about this car. Had nothing but problems. Was in shop 5 times after only 4 months driving. Had to replace front and rear shocks, remove dash and insert foam to eliminate extensive rattling (still rattles). The whole bloody car rattles. Gear shifter pops out of gear, brakes make horrible metallic pop when first used, clutch and brake pedal squeak like rusty door hinges, etc, etc. Serious quality control issues.

  • Awesome car, best in its class - 2008 Honda Civic

Switched from a 3 series BMW and loving it. Great handling and performance. Really easy and smooth to drive, great gas mileage. Interior is really practical and has lots of space for gadgets like phones, ipods, glasses. Drove it in a real Chicago blizzard and it handled incredibly well in the snow. Electronics in it like stereo, lights and especially windshield wipers are great. My only complaint is the bumper which gets really nicked up if you parallel park. After 4 months of driving the civic, i dont miss my beamer

The civic is just great. The features inside are excellent, and is compact, yet not too small for comfortability.

I have only owned my Honda Civic EX Coupe for two months and I LOVE IT!! I drove it so much in the past 60 days that I have already accumulated 4,000 miles. My average mileage has been 31 mpg for city and about 35 mpg on the highway (75mph).

  • Dependable? - 2001 Honda Civic

I purchased this car in March oh 2004 and it already had 115,00 miles on it. Being a Honda, the miles didnt bother me since I had a 1990 Accord that was still going strong with no problems. However I must say this car has not been as good as the old Accord. It needed front struts on it only months after I got it. The a/c compressor went bad shortly thereafter. Now the alternator needs replaced. However I will say the car now has 148,000 miles and still doesnt leak any oil or burn it either. I change it every 4000 miles and never have to add any oil between changes. It has an automatic tranny that is beginning to slip, only when its cold for now. Hoping to get 200,000 before it bites the dust!

  • Dependable/Fun Car - 2005 Honda Civic

The Honda Civic EX special edition 4door manual is a really fun car to drive. The interior of the vehicle is also extremely nice. I have only noticed a few minor things that I dont like. For example the paint on the front bumper is peeling but other than that problem its a great car. I cant wait to get another one.

  • The Hybrid - 2003 Honda Civic

I love my hybrid! It is by far the best car I have ever owned. I have ranged between 40 and 56 miles per gallon. Drive it slow and steady and you will get great mileage.

  • Best Car Ive Owned - 2004 Honda Civic

I love the Civic. Best car Ive owned so far with the exceptional gas mileage. Wish Honda could have put a bigger engine or came out with a V6 model for the EX and with a little more standard features. All in all a very great car that will probably last forever.

  • Couldnt Be Happier - 2008 Honda Civic

Traded in a gas-guzzling SUV for my Civic Si and couldnt be happier. I love the small steering wheel, relatively short throw shifter, exhaust sound and the handling. Seeing how well it handles the ride is actually fairly comfortable for this type of car. The exhaust isnt loud and weed-eater-like but it has a nice hum to it at 6000rpms. Ive been averaging around 32 mpg @ 75 mph.

  • A lot of noise - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

It was fun the first few weeks then in 2 months I started to hear rattling noise if I drive at constant speed 35 mph on flat road and louder noise in the right side when I drive on rough road. The dealer changed the right engine mount which took care of the noise for 2 weeks then the annoying rattling noise is back. Last week the windshield wiper started to kind of drag and shake and make a terrible noise regardless if its wet or dry. Someone may think its subtle but I had cars before..Never like this its brand new 2006 with all of the above!!!!!!!!!!!
