This Year's Model Updates:

In typical Honda fashion, the Civic receives a number of minor changes this year in order to keep it fresh. For the coupe and sedan, there's new exterior styling, including restyling for the front and rear bumpers, hood, headlights and grille. Inside, the audio speakers have been upgraded, extra sound deadening material has been added and floor mats are now standard in the LX and EX. The LX trim has slightly bigger wheels this year (15 inches) and standard keyless entry. A new value package contains air conditioning, a CD player and a new center console. For the Si hatchback, there are new headlight and taillight designs, larger 16-inch wheels and flashier interior trim. Like the regular sedan, the Civic Hybrid has updated styling, standard floor mats and improved speakers. It also has a new interior console with an armrest, adjustable rear headrests and a manual driver-seat height adjuster. Finally, all 2004 Honda Civic sedans and coupes have a new seatbelt reminder system.

Pros:
  • Fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly engines, roomy interior, reputation for durability and quality, impressive crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Top-of-the-line models are pricey, antilock brakes not available on DX or LX.

Traded in Cadillac STS for this little jewel. A Cadillac it is not, but the steering is precise and it corners beautifully and I actually prefer the Civics firm ride. Fit and finish are excellent. Its power is adequate for the mountainous terrain here and the gas mileage (always 48 mpg or better) makes you smile as you pass the gas stations.Besides that, the car is just FUN to drive. I can find no fault with the car!

I fell in love with this car the first time I ran it up through the gears: the steering is tight, the gear pattern is tight, the suspension is tight and feels right with the rest of it. Sporty feel. Gas mileage is better than stated: were getting 27-28 city, 32-35 highway. And those highway miles are at well over the speed limit. Plenty of power for passing up-hill. Stable at speed and doesnt get blown around by trucks.

This is a great great car, but a big adjustment from the 1995 Nissan Quest I had been driving. I just took it down to NC from MD and it performed very nicely. Only problem I have had is that I have been tabulating mileage and only got 26 mpg city at one point. I got 37 on a tank when i was driving completely on the highway the entire time. Not sure if honda is lying to me. Have to agree with a previous comment that this car does not have much power. My sister has a 94 accord and this drives just like it.

  • Everythings Great But The Radio - 2004 Honda Civic

This car is wonderful. Around LA, I get 37-43 MPG, and no less than 35MPG in around-town driving. I have only one complaint--after years of driving Hondas main line Acura Legend, I was not expecting this Hybrid to have such a crummy sounding radio. It sounds quite "tinny". I replaced the speakers, but the radio needs to be upgraded as well. They should off er an option going in to get their better quality radio/CD player. Fix this one problem (or wait and buy the Accord Hybrid when it comes out this fall, which should have better quality equipment) and one should reach driving nirvana.

  • Hybrid Honda is terrific - 2004 Honda Civic

We thought we were going to purchase the Toyota Prius, but were not pleased with the dashboard configuration. We then decided on the Honda Civic Hybrid and are extremely pleased. We discuss each morning over who will get to drive it; the one going the most miles wins. We are very pleased with our purchase.

  • Great Gas Mileage! - 2004 Honda Civic

This car is solid. Although it doesnt have the same acceleration power as my previous vehicle, it can hold its own. I get 48mpg after 3000 miles. It runs great and is very comfortable. If you are looking for a hybrid, I highly recommend the Civic.

  • Awesome Car for $12500 - 2004 Honda Civic

I got to say what a great little car for the money. You cant go wrong here with the Honda Civic VP, 5 speed. I guess for a 24 year old that car suites me quite nicely. I love the gas milage, the design of the vehicle, and the overall build quality of this vehicle. This is a basic car from point A to B, with nothing but A/C and a AM/FM CD Player. Car rides and drives great! MY GF loves the car! I sold the 2000 Tahoe I had due to the gas prices. I was spending almost a $100 a week in gas for the Tahoe, where as now I only spend about $30.00. This is a perfect car for a young adult, or someone young at heart

  • Neat Car for the money - 2004 Honda Civic

Mileage started out at 30mpg first tank, 35 Mpg second tank and about 38 mpg currently on third tank. Smooth comfortable ride. Pretty quiet. Plenty of power for everyday use.
