This Year's Model Updates:

A host of minor changes bring the Civic into 2003. On the inside, all models gain improved seat fabrics, rear adjustable outboard headrests and new four-spoke steering wheels. On HX, LX and EX Civics, you'll find improved gauge illumination. There's a new center console for LX and EX, and a CD player is standard for HX and LX. On the outside, the 2003 Honda Civic has freshened taillamps and new wheel designs. Also, there is a Hybrid Civic available for the 2003 model year.

Pros:
  • Fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly engines, roomy interior, reputation for durability, impressive crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Antilock brakes not available on DX or LX.

  • Very nice, fun and comfortable - 2003 Honda Civic

I had a great buying experience with this car, and Edmunds TMV helped out too. I ended up paying Less than TMV. This car has been a blast to drive, even while still breaking in the engine. Ive had nothing but positive comments from friends and family. The only thing Ive noticed about this car so far is how the electric assist steering feels different, but its easy to get used to. I would highly recommend this car to someone who enjoys having a small peppy car. Its no drag racer, but its certainly quite fun to drive.

I love my new Honda Civic. Although Im a bit biased because my previous car was a 98 Civic. Affordable, economical, and fairly fun to drive. Im actually near my EPA rates MPG.

I own the "cvt" or automatic version of the Hybrid. Its very quiet except for road noise. Friends have been impressed and geeked out by the "click-start" and the semi-digital,indigo dash (especially the battery meters). I average 42MPG. Excellent sound system and room for adding power points.

  • Fun and Useful - 2003 Honda Civic

I am very pleased with my Si so far! This car is fun to drive & actually useful (5 pass. w/ real back seat headroom & cargo-carrying ability). My 92 Civic experience was enough to convince me to go w/ Honda again even w/ stiff competition. I am surprised that Honda didnt put a 6-speed transmission or a higher-geared 5th gear. The engine runs very smoothly, but it bothers me to see the tach pushing 4,000 rpm on the interstate! Rearward visibility is somewhat restricted due to the back seat headrests & blindspots on each side of the back glass.

I commute an hour each way to work, and this car is perfect for both the commute or for hopping around town. Extremely comfortable seating, very quiet inside, decent stereo, almost no blind spots. My only complaints so far have been minor (mostly cosmetic) issues -- when its wet outside, a LOT of rain seems to come in, even with the window only cracked. The air conditioner seems to sometimes take a long time to reach full power. It could use a little more horsepower, but thats not a deal-breaker for me. My first impression upon buying was that it seemed like it should cost more than it did.. and that hasnt faded.

  • Great economy car - 2003 Honda Civic

My experience with this car has been great. I have a standard transmission, so it really has a lot of get-up-and-go for a 4 cylinder vehicle. I havent had any complications, its fun and easy to drive. I previously had a 1991 Civic LX Sedan, and there have been many improvements since then! The road noise especially has really been reduced. The interior is small, of course, but amazingly roomy! On the same token, for such a small car, the trunk is huge!

  • What a great car! - 2003 Honda Civic

Maybe I am still in the honeymoon phase, but I love this car! I cant say enough good things about my civic hybrid. The styling is very attractive, it is loaded with many standard features that would have been options in other cars, ie. all power windows, locks, cruise, power steering and brakes, a cd player, even floor mats! The MPG is phenominal. I average 47 MPG on my daily 90 mile commute to San Francisco (over the Altimont Pass!) Had my first oil change and found out that it costs more for hybrids--even at the dealership--because of "special oil" and a little extra labor time. It was only a few bucks more, which I save on gas anyway.

  • it is a good thing... - 2003 Honda Civic

I love my hybrid, its fuel economy hasnt quite lived up to its advertisement, but im not complaining about 42 mpg. I had a friend who had the manual version and got 52 mpg. Not as many hybrid features as the prius, but more performance.

  • Not the fastest, but the best in class - 2003 Honda Civic
    By -

Some people says the new Si is slower than its predescessor, its not. Although it has the same number of peak HP (160), power is present earlier on lower rpms, making this car far more driveable than the 00 model.
