Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Cheap, head-turning fun - 1999 Honda Civic

This car is a blast to drive. It loves to be driven like a race car, but at the same time it is a great daily driver, smooth and quiet. VTEC gives this car a split personality above and below 4000 revs.

Most uncomfortable car I have owned needs more comfortable seating, alloy wheels need to be standard. Anti-theft radio is a pain when you buy the car used and dont have code then you have to pay $60 to get the code from dealership. Love the dash lighting

  • It really saves on gas - 2005 Honda Civic
    By -

I went from driving a jeep, to driving this hybrid. Even with gas prices the way they are, I still am saving an average of 80 dollars a month on gas. And I drive a lot for work, so someone who doesnt drive a lot might need only to fill up once a month. The average gas mileage i get is around 44.6 MPG. It all depends on if you use the air and how fast you drive. Driving with the cruise control really helps to increase gas mileage. I recommend this car to anyone who wants a sporty/hybrid alternative.

  • Quality not what I expected from a Honda - 2007 Honda Civic
    By -

I sold my 1997 Civic LX 4-d to get this car, and its worlds better. The only problem is that this car has a lot of noise. Road noise is common in small cars, but there are so many shakes and rattles, that Im gonna have to get them fixed by the dealer when I take it in to get its first oil change. The sub rattles the back parcel shelf, the pass. seat frame rattles, there is a whistling noise coming through the windshield, and the handles on the roof rattle. Other than that, only small complaints, like how the rear end collects a lot of dust, and how I have to adjust my seat all the way down so that my head doesnt brush the roof (Im 5.10).

  • Great MPG in OKC - 2008 Honda Civic
    By -

First sedan in 10 years and we really like it. Looks great, sporty and well designed. Mostly city driving and getting on average 28 MPG. For those who say its short on room, I have no idea what car theyre in but we have a family of 3 and were used to SUVs and this really works well. More than enough leg and head room plus the trunk holds all the baseball stuff plus chairs with room for more. Never have purchased an extended warranty but I did on this one and saved 1/2 over the dealer cost by googling online and found a dealership in Rhode Island that sells them dirt cheap and they are the exact same ones the local Honda dealer sells.

I got my Si in august and its been a blast to drive since. It handles nice and when you gun it it moves quick. Everyone always comments on the interior and it looks unique from the outside ( guinea pig comments)Over all its a great car.

  • Practical, but no more - 2002 Honda Civic
    By -

This car is quite practical, but has had a decent number of repairs. It gets good fuel economy (upper 20s) and is a sound car. However, if you are looking for a quick car, youve come to the wrong place.

  • Worst car Ive ever driven - 2015 Honda Civic

Bought two months ago- cant get rid of it fast enough. Absolutely hate this vehicle. Terrible engine, horrible ergonomics, all around horrible car.

  • Love my Honda! - 2001 Honda Civic
    By -

This is one of 2 Hondas I have owned. I have also owned an Accord that I sold with 250K. I bought my Civic new in 2001 and I have over 120K on it now. My grandfather would not let me park my foriegn car in his drive way even though the radiator was built locally. I have had zero repairs. I dont follow the maintenance schedule, and I have beat it up a little. It is a zippy little car for heavy traffic but powerful enough for highway traffic. I use synthetic oil. It isnt as comfortable as my old car (Pontiac) and the timing belt maintenance was expensive, but I am still extremely happy with it. I plan to drive it into the ground and I will probably buy another.

  • Great Car - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

I purchased this car mostly because I love Hondas. After I bought it I realized there was a lot more to it, its a safe vehicle, (this car has more safety features than any other car that I have looked at), great on gas mileage, and a sharp looking car. I wouldnt own anything other than my Honda.
