  • Fun for $14,000 / Cheap to Own. - 2005 Honda Civic

I think if you are looking at a compact car that gets great gas mileage, you have to check out the Civic. It is reliable, fun, and nice for the price. I think you will be surprised with what you get for what you pay. The LX has all the stuff you need. A/C, CC, PW, PD, CD, keyless entry.

We traded in an 04 Grand Am for the Civic and love it. Its a much more fun ride than I expected, gets great mileage, and is comfortable.

  • Quiet car - 2005 Honda Civic

I bought this car because it is so quiet. I test drove it on sevral occasions beforehand, and I liked the fact that even when the gas engine is running it is so quiet. It wont win any races, but thats not the intent of this kind of car. The intent is to be a quiet, economical car (that happens to be very environmentally friendly), and it accomplishes these goals admirably. This is the car I should have purchased when I was shopping a couple of years ago. I bought a VW back then, and though I loved it, it was unreliable. No longer my problem.

  • This Hybrid is a Winner - 2005 Honda Civic

After driving a 17 year old Honda Civic without any major mechanical break downs, we needed a Honda that would be fuel efficient and safe. We settled on a 2005 Honda Civic Hybrid. This Car is a Winner! Fit and Finish is Excellent, Gas Mileage is consistently above 45mpg and it rides quietly on the open road. You hardly know its a Hybrid except when you see the "Engine Off" light blinking when the Hybrid is running off its battery. Do yourself a favor and purchase Honda, it beats the Toyota Prius hands down. Dont ever worry about the motor stalling out like the Toyotas have been plagued with.

  • Cheap Ride - 2005 Honda Civic

The 2004 Honda Civic Hybrid performs as expected from a Honda product, but has a battery located behind the back seat. The battery provides additional power to the small but adequate gasoline engine. As a manager I purchased the automobile for frequent short distance trips and have been very pleased to find out that the fuel economy is enhanced by stop and go driving. Each time the vehicle stops, the battery charges and is used to boost the gasoline engine. The most interesting part of the vehicle(s), we purchased two, is that when it is at a stop, you cannot hear the engine at all. The ones we purchased have all of the bells and whistles of any other car, but is very practical.

Vehicle is excellent on gas compared to old suburban I was driving. Would not consider for my college bound daughter though. Was disappointed to find out that the Civic had no daytime running lights(available on Canadian models though?) nor do the doors lock automatically upon driving vehicle. During this time and age you almost consider this to be part of the package, Id rather get running lights or auto door locks over mud flaps...or pin striping

  • Best car that Ive had in years! - 2005 Honda Civic
    By -

A friend purchased the Civic Hybrid the first year they were made. She is still driving and loving it. I was impressed and decided to try it. Like many people I was disappointed in my mileage during the first couple of months but I read the message boards and learned that it would increase with time and my experience with driving a hybrid. It has. I average 45-52 mpg. I seldom have to get gas but when I do, I smile the whole time. Other cars may get great gas mileage but I have that along with Honda reliabilty and safety. This is a great value for the money!

  • What a great little car. - 2005 Honda Civic

We bought it because were trying to get good in-town gas mileage in a car that has comfortable room for 4 adults. We havent been disappointed. Im the engineer, but my wife routinely gets the better mileage around town (41 vs my 40 on the trip odometer). Our mileage on the trip odometer is actually a couple mpgs low, because it over reads gas consumption a bit and because the speedometer reads 1.5% fewer miles than we really travel (measured on 100 miles on I95 in SC) (this also explains why it understates speed by 1.5% as well). Actual gas mileage, with 1000-2000 miles on the odometer: 37 @ 80mph, and about 44 @ 65mph.

  • New Honda Lover - 2005 Honda Civic

I love my new Honda. My previous car, which was a convertible was totalled due to tire failure. I needed to get something that would be practical, extremely nice looking and economical. I had the interior upgraded to leather - and my car looks very smart!

  • Somewhat disappointing - 2005 Honda Civic

Purchased new 05 Civic LX. Exterior is fine, looks good, drives good, the tranny is smooth, (a little slow) but smooth. Good braking, solid little car. Decent room for a small car, interior layout, nice, good seats. But, the interior pops like a bowl of Rice Krispies and its very, VERY annoying. Test drove Corolla, did same thing on test drive and I didnt purchase because of the popping. (Civic didnt do this on test drive) Had 02 Camry did same thing. Looks like Japan is going the way of GM with the rattling interior. Why cant auto makers make vehicles that dont snap, crackle & pop when you drive? Honda gets a "D" for the interior build of this Civic. Thank goodness for a good stereo!
