Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Excellent Car, just not for long trip - 2004 Honda Civic

Its really smooth. It got all the horsepower/torque I need. Really great fuel efficiency (so far, I have 42.3 MPG.) The engine is usually quiet. Especially during stops, when the engine is off. But the engine is really loud on the highway. I cant hear the music (CD/Radio) when I am on the Highway. I was surprised by the fan staying on after I turn off the vehicle. I assume the fan is used to cool off the engine. During long trip (4 hours +), one can feel that the seat cushioning is not very good.

  • I am gonna miss my Civic - 2005 Honda Civic

I am trading-in the CIvic for an Accord Coupe in a few days and all I can say is I am gonna miss the Civic. Reliable, great gas mileage, good handling and good looks.

  • Short on dough? Civics the way to go. - 1998 Honda Civic

If it werent for that darn school bus slamming into me, Id still be driving my Civic today. What it lacks in low- end torque, it makes up for once the peppy VTEC kicks in. This car is affordable, reliable, & fun to drive. If youre on a budget, never fear. Look no further than the Civic EX . . . you wont regret it!

  • You cant complain with 267,000 miles - 1990 Honda Civic

I had this car as a gift from my Uncle. He had been using this to drive to work 120 miles a day until I had it 10 years ago where I drove 110 miles a day. Never had any major problems. Engine is phenomenal - never been repaired since we got it. On top of that, the engine still sounds like brand new, very quiet. Only bad experience with this car was when I had to push it from a freeway to an exit for a gas, it was my fault though - I ran out of gas. However, at an average of 38 miles per gallon with todays gas prices - youll definitely will try looking for this COLLECTIBLE piece of treasure. I love this car!

  • Got my moneys worth - 1997 Honda Civic

I bought this car in 97 with a mere 7 miles on it. It now has 135+K miles and has overall been a great car. Its never had any major problems except that its almost been stolen twice. I am having the problem that (2nd time around) my drivers side window in not working and the passenger side is slow. And there is something rattling whenever I turn. It has taken me everywhere & has been extremely reliable even when I wasnt so nice to it on the road. My older brother wants this car to tool around in & my soon to be 16 y/o wants it, so theyll have to duel it out when its time to retire it for a 4 door which is going to be soon.

  • Do your homework think twice - 2009 Honda Civic
    By -

I have 2009 that has been in the shop three times under 6000 miles, once for a failure of the tire pressure sensor, twice for IMA battery failures. The car is currently experiencing the same type of behavior as before the last IMA failures. Honda states they are having battery problems. In addition, Honda customer service states the MPG is actually normal for winter driving for Missouri. Dealer failed to inform us of this when we purchased vehicle. I find this to be an unethical deceptive practice by Honda. Car is not the quality we expected from Honda.

  • Love this car! - 2001 Honda Civic

I bought this car in 2003 at a Ford Dealership. It was so cute. It is fun to drive, and have had NO mechanical failures. The only thing is that it goes through headlights about 4 times a year. Also, other vehicles have no respect for this little beauty. Every day, some one is cutting me off. Best car I have ever owned, I will definitely buy another Honda. My VIN begins with a 1, so it was made in America, my friends Ford was made in Canada...go figure. Husband prefers driving it just because of the gas mileage.

  • Gotta love a Honda - 2000 Honda Civic

I totally love my civic. In the 8 years I have owned mine, my exhaust went up and the O2 sensor and air control valve have went up. No other problems what so ever with her. The transmission does run a little rough. I change the oil about every 5,000 miles and with the economy sucking, it helps to have a fuel efficient vehicle. I think next I might buy a Honda CR-V, still great gas mileage but a tad bigger. The dealership where I bought mine actually send me stuff all the time asking to buy my car back, because of its low mileage. I only have 79,000 miles on it. The resale price is GREAT. Definitely holds its value.
