Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Drive Fast or Slow? Cant Decide... - 2008 Honda Civic

Leased for my commute to work, but knew this would be a fantastic weekend car. Whether to tackle everyday tasks or to have a nice Sunday drive to the beach, the smooth shifting 6-Spd is a pleasure to drive. The clutch is quite an upgrade from the DX, LX, and EX trim. Happy about the performance, comfort, looks, reliability, and handling. Interior is eye catching, and the mp3 capability is welcomed. A/C vents need to be moved as they are behind the steering wheel. The black cloth seats with red stitching are extremely comfortable, but impossible to keep clean since every piece of lint or dog hair shows. Leather should have been an option. Need to fix creak on windshield/dash!

  • Terrible Suspension and Transmission - 2001 Honda Civic

Honda should recall this vehicle. Mine has been in the shop about 40 times and it keeps on having to go back in for suspension issues. Also my transmission was replaced under warranty with only 50,000 miles on it. In my opinion worst Civic made.

  • A Gas-Sipping Treasure - 2005 Honda Civic

I bought a Certified 05 Civic EX SE A/T with 9,000 miles via Ebay. I drove it 650 miles back home and it was a pleasure. The ergonomics of the controls are stellar the comfort of the seats superb, and the driving experience a pleasure. I averaged well over 40 MPG on the freeways I am averaging well over 30 MPG around town. I love the sound system and head unit on the SE I also like the leather-wrapped steering wheel & the spoiler. All the controls are intuitive & easy to use. The ride is supple yet the car is eager and willing through corners. Fit & finish are impeccable both inside the car and outside. Even with the automatic transmission, the car is peppy.

  • Amazing Car!! - 1997 Honda Civic
    By -

I received this car in early 08 and am extremely happy with it. Have added multiple after market performance parts to it recently. But even before that it ran incredibly for having 133,000+ miles on it. Excellent suspension and reliability! Gas never an issue, but i have dropped it with the addition of vtec motor. Clutch was first thing to go, but not a problem for a car of this age. Super clean and excellent body work. Over all, this was a great choice in car. Easily modified, a car to be proud of!

  • My beater - 1990 Honda Civic

I have had this car for 6 yrs now. Still running strong. I have replaced many part on it my self. The clutch was the hardest thing to do. Other then that afew things here and there and mostly for under $100. I have stripped the car inside and out many times. I love this car. I get around 32-38 mpg but thats after taking the ac and dash out. Next will be turning it in to a mini truck. Hope to get even better mpg. All in all a great little car. Easy to work on.

  • Best hybrid out there - 2004 Honda Civic
    By -

I didnt really choose to buy this car, since I wanted a manual transmission hybrid (the Civic is the only such model), but I am absolutely happy. The performance is decent, certainly no different than standard Civics or similar class cars. However, I probably would have paid more for extra horses because acceleration above 60 mph or when driving with a full car is sluggish. Gas mileage has lived up to my expectations -- 45-55 mpg, which leads me to think any complaints out there are from drivers who accelerate too fast, go over 80 mpg, etc. All other aspects of the car are identical to regular Civics -- a well balanced and economical sedan.

  • Love it. - 2004 Honda Civic

I recently purchased this car yesterday, June 29th, and this is the most fun Ive had. I jumped up from a 2001 Chevy S10, which was not the best truck, but was practical. This Si has great room in the front and the back (my head does not touch the top when sitting up in the back seats 6) and has great gas mileage. LoVe It.

  • Not my first Honda, and not my last.... - 2004 Honda Civic

Spunky and sporty, and though lacking a "V8", the 5-on-the-floor work ideally for this 4 cylinder. Pressing 40 highway MPG, and about 35 city with emphasis on getting into 5th gear as soon as I hit about 35mph. Very smooth at all speeds. I dont mind having to manually roll down the windows ! Noise level better-than-average. Paid about 13,250 OTD. Very capable CD/AM/FM radio standard - seems there is some slightly noticeable reception fading which may be antenna or reception caused (I DO NOT live in a remote area). Most people wouldnt notice it. Im upgrading to an Alpine CDA-9820XM. Too new to rate reliability

  • Honda Hybrid No faults - 2004 Honda Civic
    By -

We bought it in December, took off for Phoenix, Albuquerque, no faults, ran great, Cruise control is awesome, best process control system ive ever seen in an auto. The A/C is great. The economy mode and cruise control with A/C set on 70 degrees pulled up the 8000 ft mountain going into San Diego CA with no overheating, passing everybody else with A/C off and overheating still. Milage varied on 3000 mile trip from 33 to 39 mpg depending on speed and wind direction. It takes no thought to drive, just push the gas pedal. Stable and sure-footed in rain and wind, even with sligh
