Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Great Ride! - 2003 Honda Civic

I love my new Honda Civic. The best thing about it is that it is sporty, yet still a sensible purchase. Plus, this car comes with lots of good stuff like a CD player, anti-theft system and an automatic sunroof. I also really like the great gas mileage and the fact that I feel safe driving it. Not only that, but a lot of the other cars I looked at were the same price--only they were three years old and had at least 30-40 thousand miles on them. I am so glad I decided to get a brand-new car for the same price or less!

Honda was my dream car after our last "American car" purchase, a Ford ranger pick up with a transmission made in France and an international array of car parts, I decided on reliability, fuel economy and ease of handling. And it is fun to drive. Exactly what I got.

I have had this car for nearly 4 months and am so happy with it. Yeah, it gets the stares and every person whos sat in it talks about the interior. I have to say that, for the money I spent, there is NO BETTER CAR than this Civic (and I considered the Mazda3 and Ford Focus). I spent months researching, test driving, and learning what I could to make an informed decision. I mean, come on... were talking a major investment. 4 months and about 4500 miles later, Im grinning.

Ive had the car for close to 2 years but dont drive it on the highway all that often. Also, the town I live in is really bad for gas mileage, with stop signs and traffic lights at seemingly ever corner--and lots of corners! On the highway, Ive gotten high 30s, which seems pretty good to me. In town, Im lucky to get 23 mpg. I like the seats a lot, and its one of the few cars Ive had that doesnt have any rattles. Also, Ive had no problems to complain about when I take it to be serviced.

  • Best car ever (not literally, but yea) - 2006 Honda Civic

Id be making millions and Id still be driving this thing. The design is great inside and out. Surprisingly room and big for a compact vehicle, though it still gets some wicked mpg. I love it. I drove a 93 Honda Accord before and it was as reliable though less cool. I used to take the thing off roading and never gave it oil changes- still never broke down. Hondas are reliable creatures. I give my 06 Civic regular oil changes, and have changed the brakes and transmission oil once. They just need regular maintenance (that can be done at home if you dont mind getting your hands a little dirty), and theyll last you forever.

My second Honda-another manual. If it were a station wagon it would be perfect. Great mileage-40 mpg on the highway, 32 in mixed driving. Reliable, easy to drive in town or on the interstate. Enough "go" to deal with big semis going 80, but handy to park. More fun to drive than our Toyota. The kids say the back seat is a squeeze but they arent buying the gas to run it. I expect that my 11 year old will drive this car through college and beyond without problems. I have owned Volvo, VW, BMW, and Toyota cars, but for ease of ownership, reliability, economy, and over all performance,my heart belongs to Honda. I just really, really want a real station wagon again--like my 1991 Accord. Please?

  • 3600 miles in one month. - 2016 Honda Civic

I drive a lot for work. And this car is almost perfect for the job. 1. The car literally can almost drive itself. 2. Seriously...The adaptive cruise control is amazing in stop and go traffic. It even comes to a complete stop. 3. The lane watch technology follows the striped lines on the road. Steering is required. 4. I set a beep to warn to brake for being to close to the car in front of me. 5. And the lane departure helps as well. The cars technology is decent. The apple play is convenient but they added to many other options to connect and its just in the way.

  • Great, practical car - 2007 Honda Civic

I didnt expect much from an entry level 4-cylinder sedan, but this car is very fun to drive and very well designed inside and out. Im 6-3, and headroom has been a problem in the past, but I have room to spare. My legs fit comfortably too, not resting against the door and center console like usual. The only thing I need to adjust to is that the car downshifts with light braking, which is causing me to stop too soon. I suppose this is partly because I am accustomed to V6 and partly because the car skews towards a younger, less experienced demographic.

  • Good deal - 2006 Honda Civic

Had an 02 RSX-S. This has improved engine and tranny refinement. Shift action is almost perfect (pops out of 3rd on very rare occasions). I have grown to like the dash. Sound system is really nice for stock and in this class - good enough bass I havent bothered installing a sub. Seats are grippy. Limited slip works well enough, neutral handling for a fwd but still some understeer. Tossable. Well placed storage.
