This Year's Model Updates:

In typical Honda fashion, the Civic receives a number of minor changes this year in order to keep it fresh. For the coupe and sedan, there's new exterior styling, including restyling for the front and rear bumpers, hood, headlights and grille. Inside, the audio speakers have been upgraded, extra sound deadening material has been added and floor mats are now standard in the LX and EX. The LX trim has slightly bigger wheels this year (15 inches) and standard keyless entry. A new value package contains air conditioning, a CD player and a new center console. For the Si hatchback, there are new headlight and taillight designs, larger 16-inch wheels and flashier interior trim. Like the regular sedan, the Civic Hybrid has updated styling, standard floor mats and improved speakers. It also has a new interior console with an armrest, adjustable rear headrests and a manual driver-seat height adjuster. Finally, all 2004 Honda Civic sedans and coupes have a new seatbelt reminder system.

Pros:
  • Fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly engines, roomy interior, reputation for durability and quality, impressive crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Top-of-the-line models are pricey, antilock brakes not available on DX or LX.

I sold my Wrangler (which I loved) because of a new long commute to work, and needed economy. Si wasnt my first choice, but only because I hadnt thought of it and was looking into more common cars. What I like about it is that it isnt so common. Ive noted it on the street before, and it seems so much nicer-designed than a base Civic. I feel small inside, considering it *looks* small on the outside. To me it is very quiet, smooth, adequately powerful. My beefs are with ergonomics and design. The big silver swath that is the center console is cheap/ugly compared to the nice materials used throughout the rest of the cabin-it looks like an afterthought. Its great overall.

I just bought my 2004 Civic and its already the best vehicle Ive ever bought. It handles wonderfully and the gas mileage cant be beat. I am counting on having this car for at least 10-15 years because I know it will last!

Best vehicle I have ever owned. I sold New and Used vehicles for 8 years and this Honda Civic LX Coupe is the best Value. In all categories-ride, gas mileage and performance - this car is the "Best I Have Ever Owned".

  • Once you go Honda, you never go back! - 2004 Honda Civic

I bought my Honda Civic because I needed a reliable car to commute over 100 miles a day. I drove it straight for 2 and a half years with just oil changes and regular maitenance, I never even had to change a light bulb! Although a 2 door coupe, the back seat still has a lot of room. Also, the car is still heavy enough to be great in the snow. This car is practicle, fast and basically a commuters dream.. I will never buy anything but a Honda again.

  • Does the job for the least money - 2004 Honda Civic

Too many people marry for looks rather than moral character, and too many people get an unreliable car with the same superficial philosophy. We couldnt be happier with our base-model Honda Civic. My car is not my identity but simply a thing to take me from A to B and back. Over the last three years, our Civic has done the job flawlessly. And we got it for the least money long- term among compact cars, except for the Corolla, which is comparable. People dont need 6 or 8 cylinders, or a car that "looks good." As drivers, we need cars that will reliably drive us on paved roads without driving up our debt or driving us crazy with repairs. The Civic builds contentment and peace in our hearts.

  • Not made in Japan save your money - 2004 Honda Civic

After looking at cars for about one year we have now purchased a 2005 Civic EX. After a few days of ownership I noticed the paint overspray where the fog lights go on the front air dam. The gas milage is a joke from what the window and government say 31 city and 38 highway. Try about 31 and my 1997 Lincoln towncar gets 23 average? I really like the car but not worth the extra money. I wanted a Japan car not a Canada made car or I would have bought another UAW made car. The Quality is not there like the old days. We have five Honda ATV,s and Two off road motorcyles and they are built good. Brand name means nothing now days, I do like it still.

LOVE THE CIVIC EX!!! TRUELY A AWESOME CAR!!

  • Most uncomfortable to drive ever - 2004 Honda Civic

The car looks and drives well enough, but I never imagined the super-low seats would give me as much uncomfort as they have. Im 54" kicking myself for not thinking to get the EX model that has the dial on the side to raise the seat. Its like sitting in the bottom of a boat-- wouldnt be so bad if the steering wheel could come down farther. Ive owned it for a month and Im trading it in rather than have the seat raised. Im generally unsatisfied with the ergonomics of the whole drivers console area.. seems like it would be fine for a tall person, but just awkward for the shorter folks.

Overall, I absolutely love this car. My only major complaint is that theres occasionally excessive cabin noise from the brakes. I also wish that the gear ratio between first and second was a little closer. Aside from that, I get better than posted mileage (I average 31 mpg mixed, 34 if Im only driving highway), the seats are extremely comfortable, the handling is close to perfect, the design is original and attractive.

The 04 civic is a basic Quality small sized car. Nothing dramatic about it, but fairly dependable. medium quiet ride. Good on gas!!!
