This Year's Model Updates:

A host of minor changes bring the Civic into 2003. On the inside, all models gain improved seat fabrics, rear adjustable outboard headrests and new four-spoke steering wheels. On HX, LX and EX Civics, you'll find improved gauge illumination. There's a new center console for LX and EX, and a CD player is standard for HX and LX. On the outside, the 2003 Honda Civic has freshened taillamps and new wheel designs. Also, there is a Hybrid Civic available for the 2003 model year.

Pros:
  • Fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly engines, roomy interior, reputation for durability, impressive crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Antilock brakes not available on DX or LX.

  • My two cents - 2003 Honda Civic

This is my first Japanese car and my first manual shift car. I bought it used (31000 miles) from a private party because I was looking for a used 2-door hatch-back gas saver with low mileage and light color (very specific am I?). GTI and Civic Si were my only options. GTI lost out in fuel economy (heavier car) and was mostly sold by dealers. I got lucky to find this babe. 8 months later I can say that I made a great choice! The reasons: 1. fuel economy (not at Prius level but kind enough to my wallet) 2. you dont see many of them on the road, unlike the Civic 4-door sedan 3. smooth and fun to drive 4. hatch-back (why dont they make hatchback anymore?)

Great reliable car that handles the commute very well. Gas milage was a big reason I bought it and it has lived up to my expectations. The 5-speed is fun to drive with short tight shifts.

  • Cant find anything wrong with it - 2003 Honda Civic

I just love my car. All opinions are subjective according to the driver. So for my needs this car is perfect in every way. Enough power for my driving needs, very comfortable-smooth ride for a car of its size, quiet and roomy-very attractive looking. What can I say - and its very economical and the price was right. Whats not to like?

I bought the Civic EX, because I wanted a car that would be freindly to my wallet, but still fun. When you upgrade to the EX you loose some in city gas milage, but I still average 330 a tank, and thats all city driving. The upgrades are what make the EX so cool. A 1.7L V-tech engine Delivers more than enough power, and you also get alloy rims, power everything, moon roof, tilt steering, and premium sound. You feel like you have a sports car instead of an economy car.

  • I love this car! - 2003 Honda Civic

Extremely well built car. Manual trans scoots around. So far Ive had nothing go wrong or need to be fixed or even adjusted. I just put Michelin tires on it and it changed the ride dramatically for the better. If I had known this I would have done it when I bought the car. The OE tires were weak but didnt wear out quickly. Well, one issue is that the CD player can heat up on a hot day and cause a crackling on the audio output. To me it has been a minor issue that Ive ignored. Ive experienced this on other cars so.....What can you say about a car that has never had a single problem in over 4 years?

This is a really great car. I have had no mechanical problems with it at all. On the highway (55 mph) my LX (not hybrid) gets 47 mpg! It is about 30 mpg around town. The only two problems Ive had? The car is VERY noisy driving down the road. In the job I just left, I would drive three 1-hr roundtrips and two 4-hr roundtrips. It killed my back. My legs would be nearly numb when I got to work.

  • This car is SWEET!!! - 2003 Honda Civic

My 95 Honda Civic DX was totaled. I decided the Honda Civic was still the best bang for my buck. The engine is so smooth, I cant tell its running when Im waiting for my order at Sonic. I have taken it through some paces at speed, and while it isnt a Ferrari, It handled well and I am confident in its abilities. Passing or using the fast lane in Houston is no problem, because the engine has great power in the upper gears (3-5). The seats are reeeaaally comfortable. There isnt much road noise, and the stereo works just fine. All in all, I have overwhelmingly positive comments.

  • Great Car...but whats with the radio. - 2003 Honda Civic

We bought the EX, top of the line. Its a great car. But you would think they would put in an audio system that you could tune without taking your eyes off the rode. The buttons are so small I am contantly hitting two at a time. And dont even think of trying to play some old tapes, only comes with a CD. Again, with the EX you think Honda would of had a CD/Tape combo.

  • Great Bargain - 2003 Honda Civic

We purchased this vehicle new in December 2002 and have taken 2 trips to Las Vegas, Nevada both times averaging about 40 miles to the gallon on regular gasoline. The automatic drive system functioned perfectly on cruise control in the mountains keeping the desired speed constant.
