Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

Wow!!! Gas mileage is unbelievable. Better than stated if you use your gauges and drive wisely. This car is fun to drive, takes the curves, quiet and roomy. A responsive car when you need it and a hybrid when you dont. And the IRS gives you over 2000.00 to buy one! What an unbelievable deal. With all the driving we do, the savings in gas is equivalent to almost half of the car payment. With cars like this it is time to go green!

Great ride and fun to drive! Only complaint is that the gas tank filler cover wont open! You are supposed to open it by pushing down on the lever (or button) but it doesnt open. Well have to have that checked out.

I got this car brand new. Nothing bad except for my older brother tearing up the clutch after only 40,000 miles, but thats his fault not the car. This is car has so much potential no one knows about or understands. A lot of people think the civic is another foreign car thats saves gas. Did you know most of the parts on the civic are made in the US than there are on a cavalier? I dont think an American counterpart can compare to this vehicle. It may not be twin turbo-ed, or have a supercharger, but the VTEC can get the car to keep up with many others out there.

I have had this car for almost 3 years and it now has 160K miles on it. The manual transmission shifts very nicely and its very easy to drive. Gas prices keep getting higher but I can still put gas in and not break 30 dollars. The only repairs I have had to get with it have been regular maintenance. It has been a great car.

Ive only had higher end vehicles, audi and volvos. I wanted something that was a little more suited for a commuter. At first I wasnt excited about going to a Civic. I gave it a chance, and I LOVE IT! I cant believe I didnt own one earlier. It is so zippy, and fun to drive. I love the oil life indicator, as a woman, that takes the guess work out of maintenance. The interior is HUGE! My daughters car seat has plenty of room, and my husband, a bigger guy, fits great as well. If you need a commuter car, try a civic, you will love it!

  • Who needs a "3" series? - 2006 Honda Civic

Ive driven quite a few sports sedans (BMW, Subare WRX, Acura, etc), but there is nothing that compares to the Civic Si. This car is a "Pocket Rocket" that revs like a 65 Mustang. It grabs the road like it has claws. Superb handling aided by the leather wrapped telescoping steering wheel. Super low center of gravity and road grip makes it feel like youll be able to handle any turn at any speed. The seats have a wrap around quality that simulate a race car. Black interior with bright red intrument panel is striking. Six speed manual trans is a dream, and tremendously entertaining. The body styling will turn heads. The Si is quick, fun, well built and way cool!

Having owned civics in the past we knew what we were getting... plus the extra gas mileage!

  • misleading gas mileage... - 2003 Honda Civic

I primarily bought this Civic for the great gas mileage. I expected to get at least 350-400 miles per tank and am only getting up to 300 miles per tank. Edmunds says this vehicle is capable of up to 501 miles per tank...and after purchasing the car I was very disappointed. I thought it must be the way I drive, since I use premium gas, but several people with the same exact vehicle have the same exact problem. Other than that though, Its a nice, dependable car, and I bought it at a great price $14,700 so I cant complain too much.

  • why drive anything else? - 2003 Honda Civic

I love this car. In fact everytime I drive it I can only wonder why every car is not a hybrid. The switch from electric to gas power is seemless. The acceleration has not disapointed me. The car has more interior room then my old 1990 Honda Accord EX and better acceleration too. I am totally amazed at how smart the computer is. The car switches from charge to assist with no need for driver input. On the highway the car is very comfortable and cruises at 75 mph without a problem. I highly recommend this car with no hesitation.
