Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Impressive - 2000 Honda Civic

Bought it as a new car in 2000 (first Honda car), with the idea to keep it for about 5 years. After 8 1/2 yrs and 100K I still cannot convince myself to give it away. As other people have mentioned, it only needs gas besides scheduled maintenance. I did not have to change as much as a light bulb outside maintenance. Great mileage 30-32 in suburban traffic, 36 on the hwy. Drove it 2500 miles across US during moving in only 3 days: no problem. Incredibly stable and agile considering its a small car with 106 hp. Next one will be a Honda for sure ...

  • Smartest Car EVER - 2006 Honda Civic

After driving this car for a couple of days, I found myself resenting my other car for burning gas while sitting stopped at traffic lights. The performance, comfort, and quality are well above what you would expect from a car in this class. The navigation system includes an excellent voice- activated command system on par with cars in premium categories. Put your skepticism aside, indulge your curiosity, and go test-drive this car TODAY.

  • NO MORE SUVS - 2002 Honda Civic

i have owned trucks and SUVs my whole life. This is the first car i have bought. I love it. It has a great power band and shifts real easy. I love the styling. The interior is awesome. Im 63" and I fit well. I love the fact that it comes with almost everything. Im just starting to commute far and the mileage seems to be getting better with each tank. My girlfriend did not like it at first glance. She has a 209HP Dodge Intrepid. After she drove it once, she wants to trade. By the way, I can take the Dodge off the line and definately through corners. Do not pay full price for this. You can get one for under $16000.

  • Tickled - 2003 Honda Civic

After MUCH research, I bought a 2003 Civic Si a few weeks ago and couldnt be more tickled. "Pearl" seems to read my mind. I can only liken driving this car to riding a good horse -- we seem to read each other and become one. I havent gotten used to the funky exterior styling (at 39, Im a bit older than most purchasers of this vehicle) but it still gets plenty of looks and the inside makes me feel like Im in an expensive sports car. Im getting in the low 20s for mpg, but thats with my foot in it -- a lot. Handles like a dream. I like that there arent a zillion of them on the road. This is my third Civic. Guess Im a lifer. Two thumbs up, Honda.

  • Total disappointment - 2001 Honda Civic

I got this car because I did a TON of research on safety, reliability and gas milage. I never bought a new car before and wanted to be sure I got the best car to drive my infant daughter around in. The first thing that aggravated me was that the fuel economy, which was a HUGE factor in my decision, was listed at 30city/38hwy - WHAT A LIE. I get about 25-28. I have brought it to two dealerships at least 4 times to ask them to find out why the milage is so low - they said they couldnt find anything wrong. Then I had several manufacturing defections, including a wire that opens the fuel hatch that had snapped. I cant wait to trade this in.

  • Great Little Car! - 2006 Honda Civic

Awesome car. Only drawback is the drivers head restraint is a little too close. The back of your head touches when youre sitting in driver seat. Not adjustable forward and back, only up and down. Otherwise, awesome car!!!

  • Reliable but Noisy and Low - 1998 Honda Civic
    By -

I bought this car new and have been driving it for almost 10 years in all kinds of weather conditions. It is a good car: well built, good finish, reliable, and economical on gas and repair bills. The only major faults I have with it are excessive highway noise and a low door sill making it difficult to get in and out of the car.

  • I hope this thing is reliable - 2005 Honda Civic

Just got this thing. Seems like the mileage is great, acceleration is slow but it cruises nicely. The interior, however, is quite cheesy looking and appears to be made of cheap material. The seats are faded and the material is worn looking, the upholstery is falling off the door panels. Car shows signs of poor assembly and should not look this way at 40,000 miles and 3 years old. Handles well, but rides horribly.

  • One of the best cars - 1991 Honda Civic

Excellent car, easy to drive. Looks small but has a lot of interior space if you need to move something, just put down the two passenger seats and "voila" Big space. My 80 pounds dog loves the ride. I have taken long trips with my girlfriend and we have plenty of space for our things. Good on gas, I get about 40 mpg. Excellent machine, in 3 years I havent hade any mechanical problem (regular maintenance like changing battery and radiator fan, but this is regular like changing ACs, faucets, or ceiling fans on your house).
