Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Best Car in America - 2008 Honda Civic

45-48 mpg in all driving, consistently. Plenty of room for normal people, and quick handling. The best car available in America, hands down. No more necessary.

  • What a disappointment. - 2006 Honda Civic

The car responds quickly and smoothly on start but after 80 mph the speedometer rises too slowly especially when the car is full. But that just the beginning. The drivers window came out of frame after about 1.5k miles. Later the interior started to fall apart small plastic pieces in the front corner popped out. After 20k miles front brakes came apart, battery was replaced, the starter and the alternator followed by the ignition key was giving problems. I didnt recognize it. I replaced cpu. The trunk lock broke at like 200 miles of use and the back seat open handle broke off easily. the exterior plastic started 2 fall off recently pins that hold them came out.

This car looks better in real life than in any photo. Ive only put about 500 miles on it so far, but every mile has been amazing! Honda is a wonderful car company. The owners manual alone shows how dedicated they are to making the best vehicles. I havent found a single problem with it. It has great mileage and sufficient power.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my purchase of this Civic. I use it for mostly city driving, and still get better than 31 mpg a tank, highlighted by a 38.4 tank on the highway. So far, very reliable, no surprises. It is able to accomplish all tasks I ask of it, including transporting bikes with a trunk rack. It has a very receptive pick up when necessary, but no sports sedan by any means. I like the interior styling overall, like all the storage compartments. Radio is decent, wouldnt mind a 6 cd changer instead of the single slot. For exterior styling, Im a big fan but I think the wing spoiler is a must, keeps it from looking like grandmas car.

  • Gutless Hybrid has Ups & Downs - 2007 Honda Civic

I purchased an 07 Civic Hybrid. Not only is it gutless, but fails to get the advertised mpg. I get about 32 around town. Now thats double from my last car and I actually dont mind filling it up. Ups & Downs.

  • Great Gas Mileage - 2005 Honda Civic

Daughter bought this car new and it now is just passing 30,000 miles. Drove it back and forth to college, and we are very comfortable in knowing that since its a Honda, it will give her years of dependable driving as she gets settled in her career. Had a problem with the cruise when she first got it, but was covered by warranty. Gas mileage is excellent! 40 city/45 highway. Had AC installed at the dealer. No complaints with the car at all. Put new tires on it recently, so shes good to go till she hits 100K. Dont see too many HX models on the road, but hers was reasonably priced and worth the investment.

I am so happy with this car, Ive had a Civic before and I will keep buying this car probably forever. It is so comfortable, great looking, great quality built, great performance and keeps its value far more than the rest of the brands. The new Civic comes with so many cool and modern features that you dont feel the need for a better or more luxury car.

  • I LOVE this car - 2005 Honda Civic

I bought this car in April. I had a long commute to work so ineeded something with good fuel economy. My last car I would have to refuel every four days, and thats if I came home and didnt drive it. With the Civic i can drive it to work and back drive around the neighbour hood do errands and still only have to fill up maybe once a week. It looks are stylish the interior is very roomy. I would say more but the car is so young I havent really had a chance to see if it has any major flaws. But from what I hear from other Civic drivers the problems are far and few between and are overshadowed by the overall performance and reliability of the cars.

  • Civic Hybrid is a Solid Saver! - 2006 Honda Civic

I put my deposit down the week after Katrina seeing the price of gas escalate. I traded my smaller SUV because Im just more of a frugle type of person. The CivicH (like all hybrids) rewards those that will adapt their driving style to the strengths of the car. It always has power to pass reasonably, you just will pay in average gas mileage if you using the power a lot. No big surprise there. Even in the Northeast my lifetime average mileage is ~50 flat. In winter, its 42-46 (short drive to work) and in summer its about 56-58. It has been totally reliable and handles my family of 4 with ease. Just plain an excellent Honda with a gas mileage advantage.
