Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Always reliable! - 2007 Honda Civic

I love this car! Granted, its not the fastest thing on the road, but it may be the most reliable. For the price, I dont believe you will find a nicer interior design. The main reasons I went with the Civic was reliability/price/fuel economy. So far it has either met or exceeded my expectations.

  • Great Car, Great Experience - 2006 Honda Civic

I had this car for almost 3 years and loved it. We drove it mostly on the hwy out in the country where we live. It survived the tough Iowa winters with no problem. Never had trouble starting on the coldest days. Only things we did for it was take it in for reg. maintenance and oil changes/tire rotations. Put 80,000 miles on it w/no problems. Fell even more in love w/this car after husband landed upside down in a ditch and walked away from the accident. Very safe, reliable car with great gas mileage. We averaged 40 mpg year round, w/ mostly highway miles. Could be roomier, but is surprisingly roomy for such a small car. However, it is light and can blow around a bit in Iowas strong winds.

  • What you expect from a Honda - 2003 Honda Civic

Overall a great car. The Fit and finish is up to par and the overall drive ability is great. The thing I dont like are, the engine should be stronger, it would be nice to have a vtec standard on all trim levels. The seating position is a little high and can make tall drivers (me) feel a little awkward. And some thing like keyless entry and ABS would be nice without having to get the top of the line.

  • Problems, problems problems.... - 2001 Honda Civic

I wrote an article a year ago or so, but i really want to warn anyone looking into buying this year of civic. Dont. This car is not abused but somehow i have managed to go through 3 sets of struts, new wheel bearings, a new front bushing, my air conditioning is going out, the TRANNY BLEW @ 100k that alone was $2000, the air bags suddenly stopped working, it sputters at stop lights. I have two loans out on this car. one for the actual car and one to fix it, and I am only one of the few that this happened to and i am mad. if i can persuade just ONE person to rethink buying one, i will be at least partially satisfied...

  • A Lot of Value for Your money. - 2017 Honda Civic

I changed my 2011 Audi A4 for this car. It is absolutely awesome to drive it. The acceleration is very responsive, very little turbo Lag. Nothing compared to my previous A4, which had a huge turbo lag. This car drives 3 times better than my previous Audi, really. The interior is very nice, very good design. There are a few stock things that really suck on the Hatch Sport 2017. The headlights are very average. The sound could be A LOT better. The Bluetooth system is not great, but these are all things that can be upgraded/modified. The mods on this care are super reasonable, price wise. This car is super easy to modify, you can do it yourself, like I did. I do get a lot on complements on this car. Very happy for my purchase, I could not be happier. The stock 18"s are very cool, I love them. They do make the ride a bit hard, but it is also part of the suspension, which is very sporty.

  • my sons civic - 1999 Honda Civic

I bought the 99 civic for my 17 year old son with 82,000 miles on it. It has been a solid car and he has not had any mechanical problems. He gets about 32 miles per gallon average. It is sporty, fun to drive, and it seems to be what all the young men are looking for. He plans on keeping it through his four years of college and I believe that it will last that long if not longer.

  • Good Daily Driver - 2004 Honda Civic

I have owned this car for a little over 2 years now. I bought it for getting to work and college, as well as cheap insurance. The Civic is pretty slow, and I usually have to rev into 4-5k RPM to make it to freeway speeds by the time I need to merge. Freeway passing is slow, unless you downshift to 4th. Gas mileage is good, but not the greatest, but one of the better ones at the price. I havent had any major mechanical issues, just a broken power door lock actuator which was fixed under the extended warranty. Maintenance is a breeze. Interior breaks and scratches easily. Good view out the rear. It gets you from A to B, which is its intended purpose.

  • Trumps luxury brands, even from Hondas own acura - 2016 Honda Civic

You can get a great sound system with subwoofer (almost the same thing you get on ILX top ELS version), a powerful yet very efficient turbo engine that is both snappy and stingy on gas, great styling inside and outside, top tech including self steering that lets you take your hands off the steering wheel for a few good seconds even in a turn, adaptive cruise that takes the car to full stop and restart going in stop and go traffic. And apple and android car play that takes the entertainment system to another level. Cant find the same combination not in any luxury brand today.
