  • Best Little Compact - 2005 Honda Civic

If you remember the commercial about the guy that was going to live in his car of a week. I have topped that in this Civic. My mom, niece and I took a 6500 mile road trip across 18 states in 11 days. I did most of the driving and Im about 61, I was comfortable the entire time. We averaged about 37 miles to the gallon and were fully loaded (heavy enough to see how low the back was) driving through the mountians it still handled better than I ever could have asked for. We also have a 2004 Civic VP and have never had any problem with either car in any way.

I purchased this vehicle due to ever rising fuel prices and I just dont like handing my hard earned money over to the middle east. So far I am extremely satisfied with the perfomance and fuel economy of this hybrid. It rides pretty good for a smaller vehicle and handles very nice. I dont know if I will come out ahead of the fiel costs due to having to replace the main battery in 8 years or so but having the peace of mind that my money will go into the vehicle battery instead of polluting the environment satisfies me. I also have peace of mind that I am in a very safe vehicle every time I get behind the wheel too. Overall I feel that this is one of the best new vehicles that I purchased.

  • Excellent MPG & Power but NOT a Hybrid - 2005 Honda Civic

The 2005 Honda Civic is extremely cost effective, comfortable, safe, powerful and good looking. Considering initial cost, resale value, and maintenance this is the smartest vehicle on the road. I have been impressed with the amount of trunk space and passenger room. My 2005 Civic is not a hybrid but while travelling with passengers, lots of cargo, and a/c running has averaged excellent gas mileage (near 40 mpg). I recently took a 400 mile round trip in the Smoky Mountains and I averaged 42 mpg with plenty of power too. I saved several thousands not buying a hybrid and my 2005 Civic takes off like a rocket from the stop light too.

Most aspects of the car is good. Noise is a big issue, but I put some rubber tar roof repair on all four wheel wells and it helped considerably. The extra sound insulation I put in the doors helped a little too. Every time I fill the tank, I calculate the mpg numbers and its been around 35-37/gal ever since I started using Mobil1 synthetic oil at around 10,000 miles on the odometer. Im at 40,000 now. The only nagging problem Ive had is the plastic panel in the rear windshield making a noise similar to the one you hear when cutting a piece of glass. Took it to the dealer but they say because its just a clip and not a bolt, they cant do much except stick some card board in it.

  • Good little "run around car" - 2005 Honda Civic

I like this car, I thought this car would get about 32 miles per gallon, when actually I get around 28... 28!! Whoa! Thats kind of bad but not too bad for city. Build quality is pretty solid for me. I had an 02 saturn sl manual. so this car for me is pretty nice! Mine came with leather seats too!! Over all pretty great car!! Very satisfied.

  • Greatest car I have owned! - 2005 Honda Civic
    By -

I purchased this car after putting 169,285 miles on a 1996 Accord. The Civic offered everything that I was looking for and more. I drive 40 miles one way to work, 6 days a week and I only have to fill up once a week. When I do fill up, it doesnt cost me a body part because the gas tank is small. My wife, mom, and brother liked my car so much that they went to the dealership and traded their cars in for Civics.

  • Rethinking My Purchase - 2005 Honda Civic

I purchased this vehicle September, 2005. I considered buying the 2005 Nissan Sentra but got a better deal with the Civic. I traded in a 1998 Civic which to me is a better vehicle performance wise than the 2005 model. There is considerable drain on the engine when accelerating to highway speed. The air conditioner is less than desirable on extreme hot days. Braking is poor. Someone missed the mark when they said gas milage is 38/29. I get approximately 31/23. It might be a Honda, but this is a low budget automobile and you get what you pay for.

  • You get what you pay for - 2005 Honda Civic

The car is fragile. Moderate winds will really affect driving, car sways easily. Acceleration 40-60 is extremely poor when A/C turned on and average with A/C turned off. Acceleration 0-40 with A/C off is above average for what you pay for. Gas mileage is good, comparable to what is advertised. Wheel alignment is fragile. Even moderately aggressive driving may cause alignment problems in the future. Car does not handle curves well. If youre buying this car for a child who only needs a car to get from point A to point B, then a Civic is a terrific investment and great value. This car gets you from point A to point B, nothing more.

  • Hondas are almost better than men - 2005 Honda Civic

I love my honda. In the two years I have had it I have not had one issue with it. When someone backed into me not a single scratch on my car. My kids first car will be a Honda Civic. These are the safest, most economical, not to mention sexy car s you will ever find.

  • Great Investment - 2005 Honda Civic

Ive had my 2 dr VP Honda Civic for nearly two years. Its great fun to drive, has never had a mechanical problem, and still gives me great mileage even around the city. In addition, 5 years into my financing agreement and Im in a positive equity situation which should improve month-on-month over the next few years. A great investment, a great car.
