Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Great Car / Timeless - 1992 Honda Civic

I have had my 92 for 16 years and have no plans to get rid of it. The Little Red Car has 185K miles on it and has been extremely trustworthy. I am a Japanese car tech by trade and only use OEM Honda parts when possible. The axle shafts are the originals. I have, during its life, installed the second set of boots after the originals. The rotors and drums have never been machined. I am now on the first set of OEM replacement shoes and second set of OEM pads. I am on the first timing belt, water pump and front engine seals, with new drive belts. I will be installing the second replacement belts, tensioner, valve adjust, plugs and misc within the next few days. Then, here I come 250K miles.

  • Love the 2007 Civic Hybrid - 2007 Honda Civic
    By -

I bought my my civic hybrid after reading all the reviews. The gas mileage is lower than the sticker mpg, about 43 mpg, but still a lot better than my last car. It is definitely not for people who like speed. Itll get there, just in its own time... I test drove a 2006 with the spongy breaks and crazy abs. Honda must have read the reviews too, because theyve fixed the breaks for 2007. A great little car, excellent visibility (which seems to be a problem in most new cars!). Im 52" and am comfortable, my husband is 62" and comfortable.

  • Great car! - 2007 Honda Civic

I bought this EX Si 2007 a few days ago. And is not too soon to say that the car is really great! Feels very strong, stable on highway. A little bit noisy on road. Suspension is a little hard but, its a civic, thats OK. The space inside is impressive and the design in and out also. I also have a 2003 Accord (6 cyl) and I dont think I will keep it after try the civic. I just love it!

  • Ricer for life - 1999 Honda Civic

My first car. Honda quality and reliability with a plethora of aftermarket parts. Drives easy and has the right amenities. Worth every penny and can move with a touch of the gas. Slap on a b20 block and youre pushing 200hp

  • Performance - 2008 Honda Civic

This import is very fun to drive, especially at high speeds. It handles just like a sport car and feels like one. It is highly economical in terms of gas mileage.

  • 2008 Honda Civic Overall 40+ MPG - 2008 Honda Civic
    By -

This is my first Civic or Honda for that matter. This replaces a very dated 93 Ford Probe GT. I bought this car for its reliability, styling (interior/exterior) and HWY MPG. Ive had the car for 10 mos now with 8500 miles total and commute about 30 miles to work each way. I do about 95% HWY miles, and I am getting 41-43 MPG!

  • A Fantastic "Little" Car! - 2005 Honda Civic
    By -

Im a bit biased (a loyal Honda customer, this is my 3rd Civic), but this is an overall great car! Was a little apprehensive about paying +$3000 more than a standard Civic, but it was well worth it! Mileage isnt quite what I had expected -- Im averaging about 40mpg -- but at 425-475 miles per tank, I wont complain! Acceleration is better than expected .. I was told it couldnt get out of its own way ... its a little slow to start, but but holds its own at highway speeds. Handles very well for a light-weight car. Maintenance is a little more expensive. Engine requires 0W20 motor oil, which is pricey. Love the real- time mpg calculator and auto-shut off feature. Id buy again!

  • Beware of the automatic transmission - 2008 Honda Civic
    By -

I wanted to let others know that I love everything about this car except for the automatic transmission. It shifts too harshly while in D. When driving above 25-30 mph and then slowing down or braking under 20 mph, then quickly stepping on the gas, the transmission will jerk or buck forward and youll hear a very loud clunk sound. It is not a normal jerk at all, it is a very violent jerk and the transmission will clunk. Its pretty bad and Ive learned that its common in all 2008 civics with automatic transmissions. There was a problem with the civic si 3rd gear and there is a problem with the 2008 civic automatic transmission as well. Honda needs to issue a recall ASAP!

  • 42.5 mpg on first commute! - 2012 Honda Civic
    By -

I just traded my Infiniti G35 sedan which was a great car. Now that my commute is 112 miles each day, I needed a more economical car. The 2012 Civic EX-L has a luxury feel to it, a great ride, plenty of back seat room, and the seats are comfortable. I got a whopping 42.5 mpg according to the trip computer on my way in. I have read some negative press reviews but dont see the problem with the new conservative look. The interior is quiet, the ride is smooth, and the dash layout is really interesting. I like the new information screen.
