Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

Still too new to Honda ownership to "speak from experience," however I am amazed at the reputation of the Civic. Even non-car people repeat over and over again upon hearing we bought a Civic, "I hear those things last FOREVER." That is the main reason we went with the Civic. The new stylish look and extras (i.e. moonroof, 15" wheels, etc.) were all a bonus.

  • My First and Not my Last - 2006 Honda Civic

This is my first non North American Vehicle and Im kicking myself that I didnt make this move years ago. This car is well powered, great on gas (average 32mpg), incredibly solid, handles better than any car I have ever owned, smooth riding, is well designed, great materials inside, really sharp exterior. The seats are also very comfortable on a long trip with near infinite ways to adjust the seat. Its tough to find something not to like. This car has been well thought out and well built. Not tough to see why some North American manufacturers are having problems. Put this one at the top of your list.

I got this car 6 years ago and have never had any problems with it. Ive done routine oil changes and had the brakes replaced, timing belt replaced and some new tires. There is only 105,000 miles on it, and it can easily go at least another 100,000. It gets great gas mileage and is a fun car to drive. I will be sad to sell it for something bigger.

This is the best car Ive ever owned. It is almost 6 years old, has 134,000 miles on it and I have never had any trouble with. It still runs like a charm.

I must acellerate to cross lane on the interstate within .25 miles and enter the interstate with a short ramp. The car perform very well and does not cause me concern about excelleration.

  • Honda-perfect for communting - 2001 Honda Civic

I have an hour commute to work every day, and my Honda has made this affordable. It is reliable and fuel- efficient, and I love to drive it! My car handles wet and snowy roads as well as dry ones, and I never worry about getting stuck anywhere in it. When I need speed to get out of a pinch, there isnt a problem. This car gets me comfortably where I need to go.

  • Love my Honda - 2006 Honda Civic

Had my EX for 2 weeks. For the first time in my 34 years of driving, I went with an automatic. For about a month, I extensively test drove and researched the Civic’s competition. Had the luxury of a girlfriend with a 2006 Corolla S (the one I almost bought). She decided the Civic was a far better quality and riding car. So I thankfully followed her advice. Now I realize how much better a car than the Corolla the Civic is. It may lack a bit of guts than the Corolla on take off, but Im not driving in NASCAR, so who cares.

The main things that have impressed me so far with my honda is the interior design. It is superb, especially for a vehicle in this price range. The performance also is good and makes this car fun to drive. I am not hot about the exterior design, but its handling and interior make up for it. Improvements: Widen the Body design, include a better sound system, add disc brakes and remote trunk entry. (which they have done to some extent with the 2006) I would recommend this vehicle based on my experience so far-Honda does hold up to its reputation for building cars that are fun to drive, display attention to quality and detail and reliable.

  • A great cheap car. - 2005 Honda Civic

This car is overall a great value. The transmission grinds in 2nd gear, and if I werent over 6 feet tall, I probably would not like the positioning of the 5 speed. Why does it not have 6? The new 2006 blows the doors off the 05. Honda may be losing their quality if you ask me ( I am a salesman myself ). Overall I would rate this car a 6.8 out of 10. The interior is pretty nice, just the exterior makes it pretty feminine.

  • Very Happy LX Owner - 2006 Honda Civic

After 2200 miles I must say that we are very happy. Average MPG is 34 city and 39 highway. I recently drove the car on a 14 hour drive and the seats were uncomfortable after just a few hours of driving. While on vacation, the car was parked under a tree and suffered acron damage on the hood - I think that the hood sheet metal is a bit thin. The overall driving experience is excellent, however, the auto transmission seems to search for the correct gear on hills and highways - it is slow to up and downshift. Build quailty and materials are excellent - our Atomic Blue Civic (which we call Pug) was built in Japan and I am hoping it will provide years of safe, reliable service.
