Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

I love the way my civic looks both inside and out. The backseat is very comfortable for a two-door car. The dashboard, including the gauges, are much more impressive than other compact cars that i was looking into buying.

  • Super Commuter - 2001 Honda Civic

Great commuter car. Excellent gas milage. Seats are difficult to adjust for driving comfort and lack support. Had a couple quality issues with interior trim items. Also a faulty door switch on drivers side.

I bought the Civic for my 80 mile round trip commute every day. It does the job very well but there have been a few issues that I didnt expect from a Honda (this is my first). The air conditioning failed (due to road debris?). Not covered by warranty for some reason. The tires wore out very fast and unevenly (upper rear control arms were replaced per tsb but not the tires). There were two recalls, one for rear bearings and the other for water pump pulley cracking. A rattle in the rear deck I fixed myself with foam rubber. Overall not bad, but more problems than I would expect from a new car. Still it is a competent commuter car and hasnt ever left me stranded.

  • 1997 Civic 4 Dr. Manual trans - 1997 Honda Civic

This car was my first one and the one I learned to drive on. Even though I bought it when it was 9 years old and had 140,000 miles on it, it worked great and held up even though I learned to drive manual on it, abused the clutch, and drove recklessly. The Honda Civic is a great car for a first time car buyer as it offers both great economy, inexpensive repairs, and a good driving experience.

  • All round great - 1995 Honda Civic

My brother gave me his old 95 Honda and I really like this car and will be sad when it finally bites the dust. Has over 300,000 kms and the only problem is occasional over-heating, which Ive narrowed down to slight cracks in the head causing coolant leaks - I think. The body rusts around the rear wheel-wells too, due to all the road salt in winter here. Cornering is fun, the manual steering enjoyable and absorbs you in the joy of piloting (apparently there is no such thing as manual steering in a car anymore - a pity). I used to ride my motorbike and this car feels closer to that than most other cars. A manual civic is a simple efficient fun-car.

I have the midori green hatchback dx model. The car isnt fast by any means but its really reliable. I like the storage capacity of the hatchback. Its a simple car and because of that simple maintenance will keep this car running for a very long time.

  • Great cheap used car - 1991 Honda Civic

I have used this car strictly as a route vehicle, averaging 170 miles a day. Given its age and miles (219k), this is an amazing car. There are now some leaks that need attending to, but the car is amazingly dependable and the performance is fantastic. I average more than 35 mpg in mixed driving.

  • Great Car - 1999 Honda Civic

When gas prices approached $4.00 a gallon with no end in sight decided to get a car that would get better gas mileage than my Tundra. After doing some research on various makes and models of cars I decided on getting a used Honda Civic. I purchased a 1999 Honda Civic with 112,000 miles on it in May of 08. I drove the car from California to Utah and got 39 mpg consistently. Around town the car has averaged between 27 and 32 mpg. From all Ive read and heard about the Honda Civic Im convinced its one of the most reliable and cost efficient cars you can own. Solid, reliable, and economical describes the Honda Civic.
