Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Si Good Buy - 2006 Honda Civic

The car is great I bought the car used with 7000 miles on it. I average about 23-27 MPG in town and 30-35 freeway but on one trip was averaging 40 mpg. I have had only one complaint and that is I got the Si which came with Michelin Pilot MXMA tires great tires but the soft rubber I had to replace within 20k miles not a big deal since they are a strictly sport tire not made for snow or rainy conditions. So I got a all season sport tire and no problems. I would definitely recommend this car as only maintenance I have done is oil changes and Ive had no problems.

I purchased this car almost 10 years ago. Its a 5 speed manual and it has been very reliable. I have had no major problems in the 100k plus miles I have put on. It is relegated to a kids car now and it gets much more abuse than when my wife and I drove it, but it is still hanging in there. A few years ago I purchased a 2005 EX 4 dr, so I guess its says a lot of about how much we liked this one.

  • I love my car - 1994 Honda Civic

I bought this car new because my new wife & stepdaughter didnt fit in my CRX. From the day this car entered the garage my teenage stepdaughter coveted this car so you know it was cool looking from the word go. On the road it handles like a dream, it has reasonable go (5 sp manual), and slices up Santa Cruzs highway 17 like its on rails (w/ 185/60014 Yokohama summer tires). It gets great gas mileage, on the highway 400+ miles from a tank happens all the time. Recently, I had a major failure, most likely a throwout bearing and the main shaft on the trans is making noise (155K). This is how much I love this car: $2100 estimate and Im fixing it. Live on! (The Fit Sport will have to wait).

  • Outstanding New Civic Design - 2016 Honda Civic

This new Civic is outstanding in almost every category. Typical Honda quality throughout the vehicle but a couple amazing features include the turbo engine. Not only is it already amazingly fast, for a Civic sedan, but when you shift into Sport (S) this car will get you out of almost any sticky situation with ease. So far we only owned the car for a month and the Apple CarPlay suddenly would not recognize either of our iPhones. Honda service had to update our software to get it working again. Also, I do find the lack of volume knobs for the entertainment center to be annoying since were all quite use to that capability. Hopefully, Ill get use to it soon. Other than that, love the car. And the gas mileage has averaged between 40 - 43 MPG with mostly highway (90%) and city (10%). Additionally, the Honda Sensing technology has been excellent. Its really great at keeping you alert when youre driving long distances. I highly recommend.

  • 2006 Honda Civic 4-Dr Navi Auto - 2006 Honda Civic

Excellent value from a vehicle that only continues to exceed all of our expectations. Fuel economy is outstanding, averaging 34 true MPG in 75/25 city/highway use. Handling is on par with many sports cars, yet roomy enough for 4 adults in total comfort. Performance is surprisingly good in relation to the fuel economy. While not a car for the dragstrip (that would be the Si) it easily climbs to highway speeds quickly, feels safe in passing situations and climbs Colorado mountain passes without problems. While this vehicle is currently driven most often by my teen-age son and daughter, I believe I have seen the future. I will soon be trading my Lexus SUV for a 2007 Honda Civic.

  • Love This Car! - 2007 Honda Civic

6500 miles, no problems at all. Handling is equivalent to a Viper in the slalom. Summer tires combined with L.S. differential had no problem in 4" of wet snow at max 35mph! First oil change at 3000 miles switched to full synthetic. Recent 200 mile trip at 55- 65mph, conservative driving, yielded an astonishing 41mpg with 2 on board! Only issues I wish to resolve are low speed hesitation when engine is cold (exacerbated in winter), and balky 3rd gear engagement particularly when cold. Have come to like the funky dash layout. Incredibly comfortable, supportive seats. Great sound from intake, exhaust, and sound system. Happier with the Si than any other I have ever owned.

  • Amazing little car - 1998 Honda Civic

I bought my Civic new in 1998 and kept it for nearly 11 years. In that time I had to make only two unscheduled repairs: first to replace the muffler and then the power window regulator. Overall its been a great car - reliable, fuel efficient, and pretty fun to drive, especially with the manual transmission.

  • Hot car....HORRIBLE electronics! - 2016 Honda Civic

I have this car in Energy Green and it turns heads every day, I receive compliments on a daily basis. The leather interior is very nice. I traded my 2006 Civic EX for this one and the cabin space is HUGE in the 2016 but the trunk is much smaller. The downside of this car is the glitchy infotainment screen, it started not working within the first week! The dealership passes the blame on Honda, Honda customer service blames the dealership. I am waiting to get my headunit replaced and hopefully this will gix the problem. You can google to find more info about this problem. Bottom line is that this is a sexy, sporty car for under 25k with fun bells & whistles that are sure to excite.

  • My Sweet Honda - 1998 Honda Civic

This is the only car I have ever owned, and until I can save up to buy a new one with cash, it will be. This car had 72 miles on it when I got it 11 years ago, and has 236,000 today. Other than replacing the exhaust manifold and the blower motor on the air conditioner,it has only required regular maintenance. It gets good gas mileage, around 350 miles a tank. It is super reliable, and I dont think that I will ever love a car as much. If it breaks down tomorrow, it has been an excellent car!
