Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

After having this car I can not understand how everyone seems to love it. I bought the car with 46,000 miles on it and now have 93,000. The AC blower motor went out, Ive replaced the radiator because it was leaking, it has an oil leak, I have had to replace the muffler, then I had a problem where my break lights wouldnt turn off causing the battery to die constantly. The AC is broken AGAIN, the windshield wipers broke and now will turn on if I go over any kind of bump. There are numerous rattles and shakes. The interior is low quality. I will be so happy when I get rid of the car. I wish it was as reliable as everyone else says they are.

I am a female import modder, received this car as a graduation gift. Its been thru a lot....its seen shows and modifications and about 25000 miles a year for the past three years. My entire family has always driven domestics but I was converted with this car. Hondas legendary reliability has been proven to me with this little Civic. Its a very attractive year and for you modders, a gorgeous canvas with tons of mods available. Great fuel economy and with the addition of some subwoofers and an aftermarket deck, the factory speakers have also proven their worthiness. If you need fairly inexpensive, reliable, and fun, this is it. Great job Honda!

Has been good vehicle, fairly reliable. Major complaint is lack of power. 1993 Escort we owned before this had more power pulling up a hill; typically with the Civic, have to downshift.

  • SI - Surgical Instrument? - 2006 Honda Civic

After having my Civic Si for 7 months, I have to say I am in love with this car. (Shallow, I know) Now I wouldn’t call myself an overly aggressive driver, but we’ll just say that I’m not afraid to under steer or over steer a vehicle, with all the tire noise and panicked passenger(s) to boot. I like to power out of corners, or put another way; brake hard, throw in, and punch out. This car excels at this. The helical limited slip puts the power where it’s needed and without a lot a lot of fuss. Strait line weapon? Not sure. But chase it up through five (of six) gears on a Saturday night and the local judge may need to be roused from of bed if you want to go home before Sundays sunrise.

  • Special Edition is awesome - 2005 Honda Civic

This is my second Honda Civic. My last one was a 2002 and I upgraded to the 2005. This one seems larger and a bit higher and easier to get in and out of since I am tall. It is fun to drive and has a lot of power during acceleration. I am totally pleased with my purchase. I get around 30 mpg combined driving city and highway. You cant beat that.

  • Ill own this car forever ! - 2003 Honda Civic

I have had my car for 3 1/2 years and have not had any problems with it at all. The only things Ive had to do with it is new tires, and oil changes every 3,000-4,000 miles. I am glad I have my Honda Civic right now because it gets great gas mileage which is a big thing now with the price of gas. Do not hesitate to buy this car !!!

  • low cost of ownership - 2006 Honda Civic

Ive got 65K miles on it & Ive had to spend only about $1000 in 3 1/2 years (set of new tires, replace front brakes & coolant service) besides regular oil changes at 5-6K intervals.

  • Not a True Honda - 2006 Honda Civic

I traded my 98 Disco in on this Civic coupe and I loved it for the first week. Then I had so many problems. The check fuel cap light comes on, the airbag malfunction light keeps coming on and the interior rattles like a drunk put it together with superglue. Ive been to the dealer four times and next week will be my fifth time. Ive already had talks with the manager and they are incompetent. I wish I bought a Ford Fusion.

Never thought a small car could be as comfortable and fun to drive as this one. Whenever someone drives the car they are impressed by the power and handling of the car. My husband will purchase one in Feb. of 2009 he likes it so much, unless something better comes along.
