This Year's Model Updates:

In typical Honda fashion, the Civic receives a number of minor changes this year in order to keep it fresh. For the coupe and sedan, there's new exterior styling, including restyling for the front and rear bumpers, hood, headlights and grille. Inside, the audio speakers have been upgraded, extra sound deadening material has been added and floor mats are now standard in the LX and EX. The LX trim has slightly bigger wheels this year (15 inches) and standard keyless entry. A new value package contains air conditioning, a CD player and a new center console. For the Si hatchback, there are new headlight and taillight designs, larger 16-inch wheels and flashier interior trim. Like the regular sedan, the Civic Hybrid has updated styling, standard floor mats and improved speakers. It also has a new interior console with an armrest, adjustable rear headrests and a manual driver-seat height adjuster. Finally, all 2004 Honda Civic sedans and coupes have a new seatbelt reminder system.

Pros:
  • Fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly engines, roomy interior, reputation for durability and quality, impressive crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Top-of-the-line models are pricey, antilock brakes not available on DX or LX.

  • Still going!!! - 2004 Honda Civic

I bought the car new, it had 24 miles on it. Now it has 75,000 miles. I have made changes to the car. All with the intent for better gas mileage. Stock I was getting 33 mpg on the interstate at 75 mph. After dual exhaust, K&N air intake, summer tires, and its not manual (automatic trans.) I now get 51 mpg on the interstate at 75-79 mph. Seriously basically stock 1.7L with an automatic stock trans. and 89 octane pump gas, I get 50 mpg. The city drive takes a toll on the gas mileage, due to the trans., I still get anywhere from 38 to 43mpg in the city. It is definitely not a racer, but it is what I paid for. I would like to have a little more power, but saving the gas money is great.

  • Good Work or Run Around Town Car - 2004 Honda Civic

I bought this to drive to and from work because of the dependability and resale. This is my first Honda and I bought it with just 23K. It replaced my Ford Escort. Gas mileage is about 1 or 2 MPG better than 2002 Escort. It sits better and has better acceleration than the Escort. Honda gets about 32-36 MPG to and from work which is about 8 miles in town, 34 miles on freeway. I do not just drive it in town. It gets twice as good of MPG as my Mountaineer!

Most uncomfortable car I have owned needs more comfortable seating, alloy wheels need to be standard. Anti-theft radio is a pain when you buy the car used and dont have code then you have to pay $60 to get the code from dealership. Love the dash lighting

  • My first stick shift - 2004 Honda Civic

Very easy to drive even though its been ages since I drove one. Smooth clutch/shifter action. Quieter than the competition, feels nice and solid. Drivers seat perfect fit for me. Has right amount of power with headroom. VS. others: focus - no rear head rests, cheap plastic interior, noisy mazda3 - great, but console blocks my leg impreza wagon - felt loose, closing doors caused rattles all over, uncomfortable driver seat bottom forester X - very nice overall, too much $$$, vague stick, not sure I like hill holder vibe (AWD & FWD) - very noisy, no power in automatics mini - very nice, but dealer too far, premium gas element - drives like a truck

  • The Complete Civic - 2004 Honda Civic

I refer to my 2004 Honda Civic as the "complete civic". Whatever you are looking for in a compact vehicle the civic has it. Fuel economy? Im saving a bundle. Interior room? Im 60 230lbs and I have plenty of head, shoulder, hip room. Extras? My VP came equiped with auto transmission, CD, air, tinted windows etc. at no extra cost or hidden add on charges. In the city I slip into spaces that other vehicles have to pass up, Yet I have plenty of trunk room and fold down seats that allow me to carry Xmas trees if necessary. I have owned muscle cars (71 SS 396 Nova) and the civic on the highway has enough pep when you need it, also, no mechanical problems at all since Ive owned the Civic.

my bday was nov 20 and i wanted the 04 civic ever since honda announced that they changed the headlights as well as the taillights, i didnt believe it at first but then i saw it on the tv and i knew that i had to have it. When i brought it, it was pure bliss, the quiet engine and roomy interior was perfect for my driving standards and the exterior is as slick as a sports coupe, alll in all it is a great buy.

  • excellent fun and great gas milage - 2004 Honda Civic
    By -

I dive about 3000 miles a month due to my 4 year old sons illness and we bought the civic because the gas milage on my 03 jeep is only 17 miles to the gallon and our civic geats 40 miles to the gallon (wow) this is a great car for a limited income family or someone who just wants a fun car and a great starter car and has lots of safty features.

  • blast to drive - 2004 Honda Civic
    By -

Wow! a blast to drive. Wonderful fuel economy but still able to reach thoughs mid 100 mph. The only real complaint that I have is that the seats are unconfortable. It is zippy but on thoughs long trips from college to home I start hurting.

  • My first small car and I love it! - 2004 Honda Civic
    By -

I am a grad student who drives about 5- 600 miles per week. My 1997 Bravada blew the engine and I needed a car fast. I have had this one a week and it handles Michigan ice and rain like a big car, yet sometimes my mileage is 46 mpg. With escalating gas prices, I just wonder why I didnt do this sooner.
