Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • A car with a bunch of problems - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

I bought this car new in November 2005. Then,i had to have the SRS airbag sensor replaced. The dealer didnt fix it the first time! the car rattles like crazy. I had panels pop off the side airbag, on passenger seat and "repopped in" my glovebox had to be replaced. The alignment is way off and sterring wheel is not straight, after months of ownership the interior looks like its 10+ years old already, cheap interior pieces and plastics, prone to scratching and damage easy. When you press the gas all the way the car doesnt move!! its weak. I cant see the front of the car or the hood when driving. Drive by wire makes the car jerk, and takes away the enjoyment of driving.

I bought my 04 Civic VP new and no problems. Gas Mileage is better than advertised - I get about 42 mpg highway. Drive it 70 miles per day and has never let me down. All it needs is scheduled maint. This is the best car I have ever owned. My next car is probably going to be Honda Fit or the New Civic. This Civic wont need a tune up until 110K Miles.

  • The Ipod of cars - 2006 Honda Civic

This is one of the most unique things on the road, and put simply, Honda got it right. They have a powerful integrated feature set, nimble handling, excellent economy and a love it or hate it style to themselves. This is indeed the ipod of cars, and likely there will be as many people aggresively arguing for alternatives as there are for the actual ipod, but at the end of the day, people will buy and love this car because it just does what its supposed to do better than anything else on the road.

  • Reliable and fuel efficient US made auto - 2009 Honda Civic
    By -

Just passed 15,000 miles and still pleased. We average 36 MPG. The car is comfy. Four can travel on long trips without much trouble. Five is OK for short trips. Leg room in back is very good. I like the split dash as everything is right there. The road noise can get loud sometimes, but its mostly only noticed when the radio is off. If you want a solid fuel efficient, US made, worry free auto - you cant go wrong with a Civic.

  • Fun and efficient - best of both worlds - 2007 Honda Civic
    By -

I traded my comfortable truck for fuel economy and was worried that Id be compromising too much, but I have been pleasantly surprised. Nothing else in this car class comes close for the money. Saving on the car payment is just an added bonus. For $20k the Civic serves up great styling, impeccable fit and finish, good handling and a fun driving experience. The dash is easy to read without taking your eyes off the road. I routinely get 30 mpg. The powertrain is smooth for cruising and pleasing to push when you have to, or want to, and its sporty enough that youll want to. This is the car other manufacturers could learn from. This is simply a better car with fewer toys and more substance.

Bought my 04 Honda Civic EX yesterday in Nighthawk Black and it is to die for. They had one with leather but I left it there and got cloth instead. First civic I had seen with leather. I love the way it looks in black and I love that the Alloy wheels are standard on the EX! Cute little car for the price but beware the option lady who will visit you and all the options look wonderful but the prices arent. (6 disc in-dash changer)!

  • Happy Purchase - 2016 Honda Civic

The car impressed right at the first sight - the design, stance and appeal. Being a Honda fan, no other make was even considered. And this car was eons ahead in the mentioned areas. Test drive confirmed my feelings. The trim had to be scaled down from Touring to EX-T due to financial constraints and prudence of not willing to pay $6K for features which would not be used as frequently. Features liked: 1. Keyless Entry & Ignition - This feature would help a lot in the cold months when the car could be started and heated prior to entry 2. Dashboard - Very comprehensive and intuitive 3. Engine - Smooth & Responsive 4. Design & Looks - Very upscale 5. Brake hold - Lets relax on longer waits at signals 6. Parking Brake - Awesome. No more pulling up the hand brake / trying to locate the pedal 7. Drivers Seat - Low seating like in a sports car. Loved it Few of the annoying stuff: 1. Road noise still enters the cabin 2. Climate control does take time to get used to, and the fan noise is so much that the music / call volumes have be cranked up several notches. This is a very big climb down compared to the old Civic 3. Entertainment system again takes time to get used to. It is here that the dealership could spend a few additional minutes educating the buyer 4. Last but not the least, connectivity with Android Auto is a pain. The screen goes blank every now and then. While using AA for navigation and screen going blank, the risk can only be imagined. Ditto is the case when music is streamed. One trip of 2 hours facing the issue, this feature is no longer used Now, coming to the dealership - Honda of Chantilly: Sales Person - Christian B. Very helpful and exuded warmth. Provided right amount of advise to arrive at a quick decision. Appreciate his support through the purchase Sales Supervisor (Christians boss) - Antimo. Again, very understanding and helpful. Very courteous and patient. Would like to deal with him again. Keep it up, both of you! While the sales persons were awesome guys, complete contrast was the Business Manager - too snobbish. The less said the better. Would follow up with this review once the initial run period is completed, and service is "experienced" :-)
