Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

I bought this car a little over two years with about 65k miles on it. Ive driven this car HARD- Im now at 110k (mostly highway miles but plenty of city driving as well) with no problems. My AC unit went out, but thats to be expected after 100k miles. I take great care of it, and the mechanics always tell me my car is in great shape mechanically. I wish it had more power on hills and a little more style, but the car is GREAT economically so I cant complain. I would recommend this car to anyone!

Well get used to a lot of problems and recalls, like your front wheels (axle lube recall) falling off. Your door handle (inside) breaking, your windshield wipers not working on intermittent position. (recall) Your engine block cracking. Your bolts backing out of the fan pully and fatal to the radiator if they do come loose. Interior sun visors (this is a good one) being replaced multi times, seems Honda cant make enough replacements. Your broken (or missing) transmission bolts, recall. The list goes on man! Better check your recall list!

I test drove an Accord and a Civic with my wife. We could not tell the difference between the two. So we saved a lot of money by buying the Civic. Our intention was to step up from our 2002 Civic and buy an Accord. Now that we have had it for a while, my wife who drives it every day (48 miles) loves it. It clearly is the car of the year from Motor Trend magazine.

This car rides better than the 2004 Camry we had previously, but road noise is worse. This car has outstanding brakes. The EX has 4 wheel disc ABS brakes and a very sensitive pedal. The automatic transmission hits into gear and also into Park with a clunk, but at higher speeds it is smooth and effective. I make extensive use of the rear view mirrors in order to back up, and it works. The mirrors are a perfect size. The climate and radio controls are the easiest I have even seen. I love the large speed display which is at eye level. The seats are a bit firm, so we use a foam cushion for long trips. Steering is quick and sporty in town, but too sensitive for my taste at highway speeds.

  • Great Car - 2002 Honda Civic

Ive had my 2002 Civic for 3,000 miles and absolutely love it. I went from a 96 minivan to this and wow what a difference. Obvious improvements in gas mileage and reliability; I dont why I stuck with the van for so long. 5 speeds got plenty of kick. A little problem with misc. rattles on right door and windshield visor. Plenty of room for transportation in back seat and a surprisingly large trunk.

Kids are teenagers? Dont need a "sensible car"? Dont need to spend mass bucks on BMW but love to drive - drive fun? I needed a commute car and a fun sporty car. This is it. This car has been fantastic. The VTEC, shifter, limited slip differential, sport suspension, interior and exterior just meld together in a great "bang for the buck" package. All this with Honda quality and race bred experience clearly projected into the car. I have fun every day and totally agree with some of the other reviews. You get in this car and it wants to go fast - it has an aggressive personality for sure! In a bind or want a rush? Drop down a gear kick in Mr. VTEC the sound and pull is great.

  • This one is a keeper! - 2016 Honda Civic

Ive had my 2016 civic EX-T for about 2 months now and havent had a single regret about my purchase! I traded in a 2014 accord coupe that I never could make myself like. The new civic is so good! Its comfortable, quiet, roomy, and has plenty of power. It just hit 4,000 miles and I love it more every time I get in it. The cvt transmission is great, my accord had it so I was already use to it when I bought this car. I will never go back to a traditional automatic because the cvt is just sooo smooth. My mom has a 2017 accord v6 with the 6-speed auto and every time I drive it I think something is wrong with it because its always shifting! You get so much bang for your buck with the civic. Push button start, rear and side cameras, automatic lights, large LCD screen for the tach/speedometer with many different settings, LED running lights, LED tail lights and tag lights, remote start, etc. It drives like a much more expensive car and handles the road so well. I love this car and I see myself keeping it for many years to come!

I have been driving this car for 12 years and its still performing with no problems. Ive mostly kept up with the maintenance schedule, but not to the T. My goal is to drive it for 10 more years!

I purchased my Honda Civic a little over two years ago. I went originally to get a Honda Accord. After test driving several cars and even taking one of the Accords home with me for the weekend, I decided on the sporty Honda Civic. I feel for all the options that I got with my car, which was everything they had to offer, the price I paid for it was very reasonable, not to mention the great percentage rate I got on my auto loan. I wont drive anything other than a Honda now.
