Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Honda: The way to go!!!! - 1995 Honda Civic

Over all a great car!!! Fun to drive, hugs every turn tight, GREAT gas mileage. VETC engine is great and has plenty of power in the higher RPMs. 5 speed manual is the way to go with the 4 cylinder engine!!! Great Buy!!!

I was thinking about buying a new Toyota Corolla when I saw an ad from a Los Angeles County area Honda dealer selling its Civic Hybrids for under dealers invoice. I went there, test drove and bought it. Its all what the reviews say about it -- very confortable, quiet, peepy performance, good quality in fit and finish.

  • Best Car I Have Ever Owned - 1999 Honda Civic

I purchased my 99 Civic EX coupe with a 5 speed manual transmission back in 2001 with 32,000 miles on it. It currently has 122,000 miles on it and has never given me any problems. I did replace the power window regulator and the CV axle boots (a very common problem on this generation Civic), however nothing else other than routine maintenance. My previous 87 Civic was still running well at 241,000 miles when I sold it, so I believe that this one will last at least as long. I love my Civic!

  • Beware of Transmission Problems - 2001 Honda Civic

Transmission had to be replaced at 63,000 miles. Do your research online and youll see that the 2001 Civic (and the V6 Accord) have the transmissions go bad frequently well under 100,000 miles. Additionally the SRS light may go off due to faulty seatbelts (mine did). Lastly, as is often the case for Honda, the brakes need to be replaced a bit more frequently than other car manufacturers. This is all coming from a die-hard Honda fan with multiple Civics. Go ahead and get a Honda, just dont get a 2001 Civic (2002 wasnt much better).

  • Great Vehicle to Drive - 2007 Honda Civic

This is my 2nd Honda Civic & Ive loved them both. They have both driven well & perform very well. As w/ my 1st Civic the mileage gets better as the car gets older. Id buy another Honda any day!

  • Good rep, bad car - 1995 Honda Civic

Have had my 95 LX for just over a year and its sitting on Craigslist waiting for someone to buy it. The car is extremely slow, even with the manual trans. Its tiny which is only good for parallel parking, only fits about 2 adults comfortably. Gas mileage is AWESOME (36 mpg in the city) which is the reason I bought it when gas was almost at $5. If youre a single person that commutes with no kids, pets, or stuff to carry around than its an ok car. Ive found that the car is completely rusted out underneath when a piece of my exhaust fell off on the highway (and you can only go 70 mph or the little engine will blow up). CV joints and rack boots need replacing every year.

  • Love My Civic - 2007 Honda Civic

The Civic is a great car to drive. It provides excellent power and handling for a small car. I sell cars for a living and have experienced the "drive" of many cars, but nothing in the class with the Civic even compares.

  • Civic exceeds my expectations! - 2008 Honda Civic
    By -

I traded in my Jeep Grand Cherokee for a more gas sufficient car. I was considering getting the Hybrid Civic, but after seeing how the hybrid engine sounded with 3 people inside I decided to go with the Civic LX. I am very happy with the purchase. The LX exceeds my expectations in every way. The only thing that I feel bad about the whole deal is trading in and leaving the old car behind, after so many years together it seems like such a cheap way to go out.

  • Best value in its class - 2004 Honda Civic

Okay, for a sedan with good comfort, excellent gas milage, reliability, excellent styling, and some pep below Its got a great crash rating and the exterior and interior styling will make you feel you got more car than you paid for. This car gives you the most bang for your buck. I did a lot of research and drove all the other entry level sedans (corolla, Mazda3, Focus, elantra, cavalier, etc...) If you want small car performance the Mazda 3 will beat every1 in this class. But for that money I could by a Nissan Altima and get better overal value. This years LX Civic will hold its value, give you years of service (take care of her), and make u look
