This Year's Model Updates:

A host of minor changes bring the Civic into 2003. On the inside, all models gain improved seat fabrics, rear adjustable outboard headrests and new four-spoke steering wheels. On HX, LX and EX Civics, you'll find improved gauge illumination. There's a new center console for LX and EX, and a CD player is standard for HX and LX. On the outside, the 2003 Honda Civic has freshened taillamps and new wheel designs. Also, there is a Hybrid Civic available for the 2003 model year.

Pros:
  • Fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly engines, roomy interior, reputation for durability, impressive crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Antilock brakes not available on DX or LX.

  • Somewhat fair - 2003 Honda Civic

Ive had this vehicle for 10mths and the ride drive needs to be improved, it needs alot more power or alot more gas saving, for the little power that it has it is not saving enough gas. Quality and reliability of vehicle is great however the exterior design needs improvement. It is not worth the price I pay for it - the price should be about 17,000 at the most 17,500.

Ive had my HX Civic for a year now and I thank Honda for making such a great car for people who want to be environmentally friendly without sacrifice. The lean-burn V-tech engine is amazing in that it produces good power and the best gas mileage of any non-hybrid car in the U.S. You have to rev it up to get it to go, but it happily revs to redline and spins the front wheel in second gear. The transmission is silky smooth and I love the styling inside and out. And I saved $6k by not getting the hybrid. Smart car.

This is a great car, i only put 150 miles on it so far, but its fun to drive but i think its really underpowered, i should have gotten the manual trans. but otherwise i love this car, its fun to drive, economical and the epa is awesome!!!

I switched from my Dodge to a Honda mainly because of its reputation. The cars mileage is only slightly better and as far as ride and performance. I sacrificed design for reliability. There is a very minor rattle somewhere in the dash which kept me from giving it a 10 in both the "Build Quality." I also gave it a 9 in "Reliability" since I havent owned the car for too long, but my neighbor did have problems with her brakes when she first got her Civic two years ago. For the higher price I paid I really didnt want to here any rattles. Im satisfied with my purchase and Im expecting it to pay off in the long run since it holds its value well.

  • Godd Value - 2003 Honda Civic

This car is not a street racer but it is very fun to drive. The price and the usual reliablity of Honda made this an excellent buy!

  • Very Good On Balance - 2003 Honda Civic

Overall value for $15K. Honda image and Honda actual is not exactly the same. The trunk was poorly alligned to the frame... clearly visable. Not subtle. The driver seat wobbles and/or does not feel rock solid. Gas milage should be better. Its good. Not excellent. City/Highway avg is closer to 31 for mine. Car is solid, reliable and refined. Driven 6000 miles in 2 months and no big problems. Overall pleased.

baving driven trucks and suv all my life, i thought i would never buy a civic. but you cant beat the value and high gas mileage will put more money back into your pocket. car is all around a good car. much fun to drive. the car is not as ugly inside as outside. 127 horse power is quite adequate for this light car.

  • Decent car, but not worth extra $ - 2003 Honda Civic

Not a bad little car. My major problem with the Civic Hybrid is that I seldom come close to the 48/47 mpg Im supposed to be getting. Its usually around 43mpg on the dash and 40 mpg actual at the pump (the dash display is always off by 2-4 mpg). Still not bad, but this is the selling point so it should be considered a big problem being that the car cost a good $4000 more than other civics. Other than that, the brakes are sub-par, and leads to the occasional minor loss of steering control over bumps in the road. This can be a little scary when it first happens. Ive had no real problems other than the car stalling once. Other than these things, it drives like any other Civic.

This technology is definately the future and Im proud to be a part of the experiment. It is fun to try to get the best mileage you can out of a tank of gas and rewarding to know that you are doing what you can to reduce pollution.
