This Year's Model Updates:

Marking the changes for the 2009 Honda Civic are a slight nose and tail job, new wheel designs, a pair of new trim levels (LX-S and DX Value Package) and a number of high-tech enhancements (including Bluetooth availability and a USB audio input).

Pros:
  • Wide-ranging engine lineup offers both fuel efficiency and performance, roomy and refined interior, strong crash test scores, available as a sedan or coupe.
Cons:
  • Controversial gauge cluster design, Bluetooth and stability control only available on upper trims, slow acceleration times of Hybrid and GX models.

  • Awesome Car! - 2009 Honda Civic

I have owned this great car for 1month now and I love it! The ride is so comfortable and the interior space is large. This is my 1st car that I am making payments on and I am so glad that this is the car that I chose.

  • Great Mileage and Affordable - 2009 Honda Civic

I was looking for the best high mileage sedan out there and I think I found it. A fun, responsive drive. So far averaging about 41 MPG, but most recent fill up averaged 43.7 MPG. Back seat is a bit tight but it fits my two children just fine. Very stylish -- I did not like the egg-like body of the Prius. Even with the hybrid battery, I think the luggage space is more than adequate.

  • Nice looking car but very bad city MPG - 2009 Honda Civic
    By -

I had purchased this vehicle after my friends told me it was good on gas. Well I got a civic 2009 EX and the MPG is horrible. I am getting 23 miles per gallon on this car. My tank is half empty with only 110 miles. I wish I can take it back for a more economical one. Not to mention the price. Too high for this car. Honda, youre going cheap to improve gas efficiency on brand new cars. People you will not be happy paying over 20,000 for this MPG. I am not a rough rider either.

  • I love my Civic Hybrid - 2009 Honda Civic

This is the first hybrid and Honda Civic I have driven. I love to drive. I drive 400 miles (back and forth) every weekend. The mileage is great.

  • Best Bang For Your Buck! - 2009 Honda Civic

I went to the dealership to talk them out of their last S2000, however, they were still very proud of it, although it was a brand new 2008 model, and I was trying to purchase it in June 2009. I test drove many vehicles. I had previously owned an RX8 and had already wanted a NA high rev. engine. After I test drove the SI I was sold. Fun to drive, affordable, cheap insurance, great build quality. The car has a great platform to add aftermarket parts at a reasonable price. Maintenance is so much more reasonable than the RX8. Granted, the RX8 is unique and handles like a dream. The Honda is just a great value for the price!

  • Reliable and fuel efficient US made auto - 2009 Honda Civic
    By -

Just passed 15,000 miles and still pleased. We average 36 MPG. The car is comfy. Four can travel on long trips without much trouble. Five is OK for short trips. Leg room in back is very good. I like the split dash as everything is right there. The road noise can get loud sometimes, but its mostly only noticed when the radio is off. If you want a solid fuel efficient, US made, worry free auto - you cant go wrong with a Civic.

  • Love it! - 2009 Honda Civic

This is my third Civic and I absolutely love it! Hondas are simply reliable and low maintenance. Everyone comments on both the exterior and interior! I find it to drive very smoothly and havent found it to be loud. Ive been in my friends Cobalt, talk about loud and obnoxious! I have had the car for a little over six months now and Ive had no problems. I commute a pretty far distance and have also taken a long road trip. The gas mileage is great as well. I do mostly highway driving and average about 35 mpg. Its so fun to drive!

  • Mikes Take - 2009 Honda Civic

For $24.2K I wish I had waited for a Navigation system; But so far I like the sporty feel and highway handling. It zips through traffic and I drove a whole week before the 12.3 gallon tank needed filling. Getting 40+ mpg.

  • Its An Economy Car, People! - 2009 Honda Civic
    By -

We have only owned Hondas for the past 12 years because we dont want the hassle, headache and maintenance woes associated with other vehicles. Honda has not disappointed. We recently purchased the new 2009 Civic LX-S to replace our 1997 Civic as a work/commuter car. In reading other reviews, I am surprised to see complaints like "no lighted vanity mirrors," "no keyless entry for the trunk," etc. Are we missing the boat here? This is excellent for what it is, an economy car. If you want a car for under $19,000 with reliability, great fuel economy, look no further. If you want heated seats with your keyless entry, buy something else and stop complaining.

  • Mileage? - 2009 Honda Civic

Not sure if the city mileage rating is for less densely packed urban areas, but I drive around Chicago all day and get about 18 mpg in the city. I havent done much highway driving yet, but those times where I have, Im pretty sure Im getting over 30 mpg. My Civic only has about 700 miles on it (its hard to rack up miles in the city), so Im hoping once its fully broken in the mpg will get a little better. Its still a lot better than my old 95 Explorer which got about 8 mpg in downtown Chicago.
