Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

This is the best vehicle I have ever owned. It is refined, economical, fun to drive and great to look at. Every day this car exceeds my expectations.

  • A sweet inexpensive reliable car! - 2009 Honda Civic

Ive been driving this car for over 2 months now and I just love it! The power is really good for a 4cyl and gas mileage is what I had expected, good. What I love about it is that it didnt have to break my bank to get this nice cute car where you still look good enough to go on a date with and girl doesnt call you a loser for not driving a BMW, Lexus or Mercedes. I really like the reliability of Hondas. Ive had Hondas all my life but just before this I bought a Mazda Tribute (Ford affiliated) and I can tell you that Honda is a much better built cars! I will never buy anything else other than Honda for the value!

  • Saved My Life! - 2006 Honda Civic

I bought my 2006 Honda Civic and drove it for 2 1/2 years. LOVED it! Smooth, has great power, comfortable, perfect size. In August of 2008 I was rear ended in the fast lane of a 4-lane freeway. I was struck so hard my car flew sideways into the next lane where my drivers side door slammed into the back end of another car at a 90 degree angle. I then flew across 2 more lanes of traffic, up the embankment and into the scrub trees. I walked away with a bruised arm and a cracked rib. No whiplash, no serious broken bones. My car was totaled, but I found had retained 100% of its value! His insurance gave me exactly what Id paid for it 2 1/2 years earlier! I went out and bought a 2008 Honda Civic!

  • Old Reliable - 1993 Honda Civic

Im about to sell this old girl, and I really regret doing it, but its time for an upgrade. This car, although sixteen years old, has been the most reliable vehicle Ive ever owned. It was a breath of fresh air after the AWFUL Jeep Grand Cherokee I owned for only six months, due to shoddy reliability. The only thing Ive only ever really done to this vehicle, is regular oil changes and had the brakes looked at, other than that, I havent spent a cent on it. She isnt pretty fading paint, dents, holes on rear wheel wells, but she gets the job done.

  • Honda quality shows.....most of the time - 2001 Honda Civic
    By -

Honda is known for its great vehicles, and the 2001 Civic is no exception. Except: there are so many rattles on this thing its crazy. I was always sure not to buy a first-year model, but it happened, and Im noticing why now. Also, the transmission hunts for a gear around 1500 RPM, but I blame the small engine for that, which is very smooth along with said transmission.

  • Best Ride Ever - 2006 Honda Civic

Im so glad my experience with my first car has been a great one. I bought the CIVIC EX with Navigation, and it was worth every penny. I love the sporty look. reving it up when intering a freeways is probebly the best part. The navigation system is a life saver.

  • A Terrible Disappointment - 2007 Honda Civic
    By -

My test drive of the Si sedan left me smiling, road test reviews were great, and Honda typically has a good reputation, so my expectations for this Honda were very high. But reality set in after 6,000 miles. No torque! Real problems included: transmission jumping out of 3rd gear & grinding into 3rd gear, clutch pedal creak noises, suspension pop noises, and a creaky structure. Transmission made "gritty" chattering & whirling noises at low speeds. Warranty clutch & flywheel replacement did not help. Overall, all of these noises were fatiguing and the car was a disappointment. Traded it in for a solid 2008 GMC Sierra... something with substance, solidity, and guts.

  • No complaints - 2003 Honda Civic
    By -

Sorry to hear about all the transmission problems. I have 83k on mine and no signs of auto tranny slippage. Averaging 35mpg city and 40+ highway. Ive found that if you drive above 70 on the highway, mpg declines dramatically. Bought the extended warranty in august of 2003 and never used it. Only complaint is that Im replacing the brake pads every 25k miles without intensive use.

  • Civics Rule - 2006 Honda Civic

I love the digital tier and it gives back when you give it gas. I can go 0- 100 km/h in about 4.0 which is really good for an 1.8L 140HP civic

  • Hybrid forever - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

I have an 03 civic hybrid and I have almost 90,000 miles with no issues and the 2006 is more powerful and void of road noise and gets from 7 to 10 more miles to the gal than the 03. The navigation system is the best I have ever used. A great little luxury car for under $25,000. I added the optional fog lights and day night mirror. The mirror is very important because SUV and truck lights are blinding at night because the Civic is low to the ground.
