Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • You cant go wrong in a Honda - 2003 Honda Civic
    By -

This review may be biased since Ive always owned Hondas (Civic 90 Hatchback, Integra LX 93, CR-V EX 99). Regardless, the 2003 CIVIC EX is a remarkable car if you were to drive it yourself. Honda reputation is alive and well in the 2003 Civic: performance, refinement, reliability, and value. Improvements over 2002 model are: center storage console with built- in armrest. Slightly redesigned tail- lights.

  • Hated it! - 2012 Honda Civic

I owned this Civic for 3 years and hated driving it every day. It was slow to accelerate and there was no great fuel savings. The econo mode made it even more sluggish. The headlights were extremely dim and not well focused. The slanting up windshield and sloping down front made visibility poor. The blind spot in the side mirrors was a significant minus. The cloth seats were wearing thin on the drivers side in just 3 years. The trunk was very small and could not hold much else once I put my mothers small walker in there. It was very difficult for an older person with hip or knee problems to get in and out of. The upholstery was treated by the dealer to prevent stains, however, it did not make it any easier to clean. I owned a 1996 Honda Civic 5 speed and loved it. I was extremely disappointed with this car. I traded it off to a Toyota dealer and I would not say the trade in was very significant. This said, it was a pleasure to be rid of this car.

  • CVT transmission - Good luck - 2003 Honda Civic
    By -

Transmission died on a busy highway at 34K almost killed myself trying to get off the road. Honda had it for 12 days saying it needed a new trans and then gave it back saying nothing was wrong. Had it in again at 36K 50K 61K 81K and finally at 110k brought it in for a oil change and they finally checked my mileage saw I was over 100k and admitted something was wrong with the slipping transmission. Honda Care could care less and the case manager told me they werent willing to pay a dime for the $4600 trans the dealership said they would take 10% off for my trouble. This car should have been recalled day one. Please dont buy this car. It is a danger to drive. I have some advice sell it quickly.

  • New Honda Civic Si - 2006 Honda Civic

A lot of fun to drive - she moves quick in traffic.

  • 02 Civic coupe 5speed - 2002 Honda Civic

I bought this car right when I got my license, and I love it. I have a low paying job and that really helps me because I only fill my tank once every 3 weeks. The engine is pretty weak, and with my 5 speed I really have to rev it pretty hard to get up to highway speed. It is fun to drive, pretty nimble with good handling. The stock speaker system isnt all that bad either. I think it was a perfect first car for me.

  • Above average small compact - 2004 Honda Civic

Buying vehicles can be tough. Honda has been one of the leading dealerships that have economical cars that are reliable and fun to drive. The 2004 Honda Civic LX is very fun to drive. At the same time, bland as a banana. Overall, one of the best in the small compact division.

  • Comfortable, Quick, Great MPG! - 2006 Honda Civic

I replaced my 2001 Accord with the 2006 Civic looking for better MPG and handling I got what I was looking for! It was a strange looking car at the time but since then more and more cars have the bullet shaped frame.

I just bought this car 3 months ago and it is awesome. I get so many comments on the look of the car. The exhaust and racing options on the car make it stand out. This car is much better than anything else in its class. Great car!

  • Good value economy car - 1999 Honda Civic
    By -

Out of college I had a long commute into work (about 75 miles a day) and bought this car as a result. Ive put about 60k miles on it in the last two years. It does a great job providing cheap, reliable transportation. Gets 33 mpg and is simple to work on. The only things I have had to do are change the muffler and midpipe (both rusted out) and drivers side window regulator. I also just recently put in Tokico HP struts because the old ones had lost a lot of their damping ability at 155k. In another year or so Ill do the timing belt/water pump. Still has the original clutch, well see how long it goes.
