Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Great used car, could use more legroom! - 1990 Honda Civic

Great car but made for short people and Im a tall person. Six foot 1.75 inch people like me really lack in the leg room when driving but it is a nice car. Like the look of the next generation civic more though.

  • Fun, Solid, and Great MPG - 1992 Honda Civic

This car is a lot of fun to drive around Chicago. The light weight, the 5-speed manual, the 1.5 liter engine, and the tight handling make it feel sporty. Low maintenance. High MPG. The body is solid but starting to rust a bit around the rear wheel wells. After a wash and wax, I get offers from random people on the street to buy it. Just cant bring myself to replace it. Honda really did this one right.

  • Most Reliable Car Ever Made!!! - 1998 Honda Civic

I bought my 1998 Honda Civic HX brand new and have been driving it ever since. I have taken moderate care of it over the years and it doesnt matter. It just keeps going strong. Honda must have made these cars for people like me who wait a few extra thousand miles to change their oil and rarely look under the hood. I call my Honda "The Mule" because you can beat the hell out of it and it will get you to work the next day no matter what. Never had a problem and will surely buy a Honda the next time around.

  • Great Car - 2003 Honda Civic

I got this car used, to replace my 97 Accord. I really like this car. it has about 25k miles on without even the hint of a problem. Ironically enough I was rear ended (correction- Plowed through) 4 days after I bought the car. I was rear ended at about 30 mph by a brand new Chevy Malibu. Her car was totalled. Mine had 7k worth of damage. I am very impressed at how well my Civic stood up in that accident for being such a small car. Anyways, it took them about 3 weeks to fix my car and its as good as new. If your looking for a semi-inexpensive car that has very low operating cost, high reliability and is also fun then go with a Civic. You just cant go wrong with a Honda

  • 165,000 mile review - 2003 Honda Civic

i purchased it new back in 03. i now have a little over 175,000 miles on it. its been the most dependable car. i still drive it hard... dirt roads, 120 degree heat, 1200 mile trips in 8 yrs. few yrs ago, i was rear-ended on the freeway resulting in some extensive damage, but still runs strong despite virtually no maintenance work on it.. so far, Ive changed brake pads once, spark plugs once, air filter twice, and last few times, Ive gone over 9000 miles between oil changes. havent done any tune ups, alignment, radiator flushes, or clutch work done yet. Im averaging 32-34 miles with 70/30 city/freeway driving.

  • Exceeding my expectations - 2009 Honda Civic
    By -

The build quality of the 09 LX is equal to my last C Class Mercedes and the reliability will be much better at half the price. This vehicle is a solid, comfortable, quiet fun car to drive. When I pause to think about what I paid for this wonderful car I just have to laugh. The LX is a wonderful value, while also being lots of fun to drive. Im so happy that I bought this car and wonder others pay so much more for those "high priced" brands.

  • Great Car - 2007 Honda Civic

I commute 70 miles a day for work. Average 35+ MPG. I have 65,000 miles on the car and have only had to do breaks once, tires once, and regular oil changes. Much larger interior than Civics have had in the past. Dash is easy to see while driving. I took a road trip and actually got 47 MPG for 3 tanks in a row.
