Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Best car ever made! - 2005 Honda Civic

Got 60K miles on it, never done anything but change the oil. Has never missed a beat, everything still works perfectly, no rattles or problems ever. I cannot imagine a better car.

  • Technical/mechanical failiures - 2007 Honda Civic

I bought this car because I was told Honda was a good brand and cars were durable and also the Honda civic 2007 has a very nice look. However, Just ONE WEEK after buying the car, the radio system started to mute itself very often, so I took it to the dealer and had to leave the car for two days there. THE RADIO SYSTEM WAS REPLACED. One year after, the car was hard to start in the morning and I took to the dealer at bayridge to change the oil and also to check this "little issue" and they had to replace the battery! Last week I took the car to the dealer again because it was shaking so bad when going up on a little hill and @ 1500 RPM. Guess what? The transmission had to be replaced!!!

I travel 80 miles a day to work and this car gets very good gas mileage of 40 to 48 mpg. I am also able to use the car pool lane which is great advantage and time saver.

The Honda Civic is a safe bet but gets real old real quickly. I have had no problems with it so far but the car is simply boring.

I bought this car used in 1997 and have driven it until the wheels fall off. The odometer stopped working almost a year ago at 229,900 miles its probably pushing 300,000 now. Great car, never let me down. Replaced CV boots/joints, O2 sensor, radiator and had work done on AC timing belt and seals. I cant say enough about how well designed the car is, how great it handled and how nice it was to have no car payment for 9 years! Its hemorrhaging oil now, so Im going to lay it to rest and get a new civic.

  • Bought Another Honda - 2007 Honda Civic

After owning a Honda Accord EX for 17 years I decided to stick with Honda and purchased a Civic EX for its size for commuting and city parking. Dont really pay attention to the mileage, just fill it up once a week. So far quite pleased. Perfect for a petite person like me. Large and heavy might not be comfortable. Could have a little more pep and drivers seat could be more comfortable. Gauges are well within reach. Nice size trunk. Dont like the headrest, wish it was adjustable.

  • Well rounded car!! - 1999 Honda Civic

I bought this car while in high school in 2007 have averaged 20K a year of mostly city driving and I have had no problems! The fuel economy is second-to-none for the model year... though hybrids may give this Civic a run for its money, for the price, this Civic cannot be matched. Power is decidedly anemic I didnt buy this car to be a racer, but if you value acceleration at all, stay far, far away. Overall, very reliable, well designed, dependable car. While the power is not overwhelming, for the price, one cannot ask for more. My next purchase will be a Pilot though the 5 speed in the Civic is fun and silky smooth, but considering the space, size, and power, Ive outgrown this car.
