Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Civic 3rd one and happy - 2004 Honda Civic

I love the reliability of the engine, and the ride. Fuel consumption is good to great. Plenty of leg room, and stereo is nice. At this time I have 60000 miles on this Civic and hope to catch the other one I had at 210000 miles which did not burn one drop of oil. It was an older model and the timing belt broke on it, or it would still be running. The newer civics dont have that trouble because of clearance in the valves. Keep it up Honda. Youre the best.

  • Best choice for $20K! - 2008 Honda Civic

Ive had this car two weeks now and Ive put 600 miles on it. I got the Fiji Blue Pearl coupe. This car is really fun to drive. I got 28 mpg on my first tank of gas. I havent been letting it rev high. Im really impressed with how the car handles. The build quality is great, as Honda is known for. Ive added a few things to this Civic. I put 18" chrome Acura TL wheels on it, HID headlights, and LED taillights. Ive had a lot of vehicles. Ive had BMW, Lexus, Mercedes, and Acura. With gas prices going higher, and the economy going lower, this is a wise choice if you still want fun and dont want a hybrid.

  • Solid little car with one nagging issue! - 2009 Honda Civic

Ive had my LX-S sedan for a few months now, and all has gone well except for one persistent issue that has popped up since the weather has become cold. When the car has been sitting for a few hours in temperatures below 50 degrees Fahrenheit, the car will often not start on the first try, or the car will start and then die out. The indicator window on the battery states that the battery is fine. On a brand new car, this is unacceptable. Come on Honda dont skimp on batteries with decent cold cranking amps.

  • Its a overpriced matchbox toy - 2008 Honda Civic

The navigation is a waste of money, Get a tomtom. Its noisy, slow, and fragile. Tires wont last, wheel bearings are cheap, and its leather heated seats are pathetic. The 350 watt stereo just plain blows. I regret buying this car and I will be trading it in as soon as its warranty service is complete.

  • Overall its a great car, ready for change - 1991 Honda Civic

Ive driven my 1991 Honda Civic for 6 years now 3 in high school and 3 in college. Right now Im about to finish school and Im in desperate need of a new car. This car is great on gas and Ive gotten where Ive needed to be but its such an old model. Its falling apart to the point where I would love to scrap it, but I have to finish school first. Its embarrassing because of how beat up and old it is. My friends use to make fun of it and call it a toy car or a clown car but it was and still is old faithful to me!!

  • 115,000 and runnin it like I rent it - 2007 Honda Civic

This is a great commuter car. However the only downfall is the light back end makes it slide in wet or slippy conditions. Runs as good now as the day I bought it. It does like to eat back tires so rotate them and service your car (i.e. oil and rotating tires) no big expenses yet. ITS KINDA A TIGHT FIT FOR A 6FT 200LB guy but it makes up for it at the pump...

  • Very, Very Nice!!! - 2006 Honda Civic

Just bought this car for my son that is away @ college. He will be driving it around 200 miles each way to and from school about every 3 weeks. This car fit the bill perfectly. He loves it and so does his parents (safety, reliability, economy. Considered the Mazda3 also but the new Civic edged it out. Have added aftermarket wheels and window tint (car is silver) and it looks like an Acura. Very nice looking! Again, very impressed with this car.

  • My First Car - 2007 Honda Civic

My dad just got me the Honda Civic EX as my first car. I was on the bubble between this and the mazda 6. I couldnt be happier with our choice. its fun to drive, my friends love it. I get great fuel mileage which is great because my school is far... For only a 140 hp engine it drives so smoothly and with great handling.

  • An Amazing Car! - 2009 Honda Civic

I read a lot about this car prior to purchase and concluded it was a great idea. It was hard to find one--called around a lot and the few places that had them in the country wanted top dollar. Eventually found one out of state and purchased end of month--got a reasonable deal. It is an awesome commuter car--very cheap to run, extremely reliable, clean burning, carpool lane exemption, and dare I say, even fun to drive. No, certainly not a sports car, but it corners well, stops well, and accelerates decently. CNG is well below the price of regular unleaded-- about 40-50% for me, and Im not Utah--Im surprised everyone there doesnt have one! My kids, boss and others say "cool!"

  • Stage 1 Modified 04 Civic EX 5SP - 2004 Honda Civic

I purchased my Civic with its small 127HP 1.7L for my excessive commuting and the need for a gas economy car. After installing a cold-air intake, strut tower brace, stage 1 clutch, lightweight racing flywheel, iridium plugs, and gator belts it flies like a rocket and has an improved gas economy of 30CTY/43HWY. Although the cabin noise is very loud, it is well worth the 400-500 miles per $24 tank of gas. Plus, besides the mods I have only had to change fluids in this car and the periodic check over under the hood. The only exception was an O2 sensor. It is extremely LOW maintenance. Overall, its modern styling and economy are the best I have experienced between Honda/Acura over the years.
