Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • my time not having to buy a used car - 2015 Honda Civic
    By -

This is the first time i have bought a new car in my 25 years of driving and i like it a lot. The car has a solid feel and i look forward to the reliability and low cost maintenance i have experienced with previous Hondas. I chose the civic coupe ex auto for my 30 mile work commute, so far the best combined fuel mileage is 33mgp. I am sure this will get better as traffic eases up during the summer here in az.

  • good ride - 2009 Honda Civic

I have owned a 2009 Honda from repokar auto auction. Overall, good ride. Great for a larger family or for when the grandparents want to take all the kids to the zoo! Comfortable ride and roomy. I like it))

  • Foul trash/garbage odor in cabin - 2015 Honda Civic
    By -

I purchased a new 2015 Honda Civic in Dec 2014. Brought it home + parked it in the garage + the next day it had a foul trash/garbage smell in the cabin. My dealership recommended leaving the windows open to air it out. Its a new car - why should I have to air it out? Took it into the dealership, where they left my car + another new civic in the garage overnight. They agreed that BOTH cars had an odor. They detailed the car to cover the smell, but it didnt help. I brought it back so the Honda representative could take a look -he said it was fine. I called Honda customer service-their stand was nothing needed to be replaced, so it basically wasnt their problem. Very disappointed with Honda.

  • Worst car Ive ever owned. - 2011 Honda Civic
    By -

I bought a 2011 Honda Civic Hybrid certified-used with 38,000 miles on it last October. I hate this car. I was looking for a hybrid and I very unfortunately walked into a dealership and was met by an unscrupulous salesman who really put the heat on me when he sensed my hesitation to take the car home that same night. Thats my fault and Ive been reminded of my mistake every day since I signed on the dotted line. The interior of this car is unrefined and uninspired, its incredibly slow (I expected a dip in performance with a hybrid but nothing like this), and Ive had nothing but problems with the car for the past few months. Within the first two months of ownership, my IMA light came o

  • This might anger the 8th gen fans - 2012 Honda Civic
    By -

Sorry guys but in terms of factory performance and day to day driving. This takes the cake. Yes its a tight race on the streets (From a dig, though honda kids dont know anything but roll starts), but in the SCCA events I have used the 9th gen in, it blows my times from the 8th Gen I traded to get it. It is still more oriented to day to day driving so I get the pain. It doesnt feel Raw like the 8th Gen. Then again I said that when I traded my GSR for the 8th gen. This car is solid, has proven me well both on the track and on the streets.

  • Wouldnt trade it for the world. - 2001 Honda Civic
    By -

I bought my Civic back in 2005 with roughly 55,000 miles on it. It currently has 165,000 miles. Up until 150,000 there were rarely any problems aside from the general maintenance and the airbag/seatbelt recalls. Around 150,000 I had to change the driver side CV axle assembly as the boots were leaking lubricant. The worst thing about the interior is that the headliner is drooping which started about four years ago. The car is currently running well and I look forward to the next 100,000 miles.

  • Excellent commuter car - 2015 Honda Civic
    By -

I needed a commuter car and did lots of internet research, and it came down to the Mazda3 or this Honda, but the Toyota corolla would have been a fine choice as well. The mazda3 had better mileage and was a sportier driver, but the seats were hard and uncomfortable for me putting my thick wallet in my hip pocket. The Honda seats are way more comfortable and the ride is a tad softer. It is a well made car with great fit and finish, moreso than I would expect (last econobox I bought was 15 years ago).

  • EXL Sedan great value - 2014 Honda Civic
    By -

This is my 74 car !! Went back to a Civic Exl from an Accord sport 2013 I guess I like smaller cars. I see some complain about gas mpg and this is all about your right foot. the Accord could range from low 20s to well over 40 as to the Civic, high 20s to 41 42 when being careful. Love the keyless entry , blind side, the car really has great features, and has a sporty feeling. Plain and simple this is a lot of car for the money !!!!

  • Just keeps going - 1995 Honda Civic
    By -

Bought my second manual Civic HB in the summer of 1999 with 43,000. Its now 2015, it has 221k, and its still going. The major repair costs Ive had are exhaust systems and suspension, I blame both on living in a city with terrible roads and the car being so low. Its on its second timing belt, original clutch, and second radiator (the first rusted out around 5 or so years ago). Im about to buy a new(er) car because this one needs a lot of repairs that will add up, but I plan on listing it as-is to see if someone will buy it and give it the love it deserves. Friends bugged me for years about getting a new car, but why give up this one before its time?
