Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Honda Civic is an excellent choice... - 2008 Honda Civic

I purchased a 2008 Honda Civic LX in Aug of 2008. 4000 miles later, I am still extremely satisfied with my purchase. When gas prices hit almost $4/gal in the summer of 08, fuel economy was a top priority. This Civic looks good, is fun to drive, and yes, does do well on gas. Fuel economy does depend on what kind of driving you are doing and how you drive, but I have been averaging around 35 mpg... but have gotten over 40mpg on more than one tank. I liked the look of the Civic and researched the car in depth, and found that used models were holding their value so well on the car lots that it made sense to buy a brand new model... my very first "new" car in fact.

Just like the other 4 Hondas we have had in the family, 150,000 miles and just got her broke in. Just routine maintenance over the years. Now its time for another one of the kids to inherit as we jump to the 2016 model. Coundnt ask for a better, more reliable car. 42 MPG on the highway, 35 around town. Socal driving at 35 MPG...come on...great car...not tradin this one in!

  • Its new but so far good - 2006 Honda Civic

I had a hard time picking out a car in this class. Dollar for dollar though the best deal was this car. Yes the standard price is higher, but after you factor in all the features I paid about 300 less. I got a more relable car and I get excellent gas mileage. The dash seems sort of weird at first but it is actually nice so dont have to look down as much

  • Hey! - 2006 Honda Civic

Owned a 2001 gti vr6 for 5 years. Loved the car--hated the 1k-2k annual repair bill. So the last time the gti was assessed with 1k bill--I jumped ship to a fat whip! Fast, reliable, fuel efficient, sharp looking--but not "look at me"--in stature. Handles, cruises, races, et cetera. Good stuff.

Drive a round trip to work of 140 miles. We get 41 mpg with synthetic oil at 70 mph. Not 1 problem, car has 83,000 miles. Fun to drive, enjoy the great mileage and for the price is unbeatable. Tires will make it to 100,000 miles. Bought some comfy seat cushions. Downside is road noise but really not a problem. Makes you smile everyday with the mileage and we take 6-8 hour trips on vacation. We are in our 40s too.

  • Its a Lemon - Many Parts Have Failed - 2006 Honda Civic
    By -

Many parts failed: rear wheel bearings- 28K rear shocks-38K A/C compressor- 15K now, front strut-55K horn-56K Nav system--stopped working for 1 day, came back the next (54K) visors, break-3X (told they werent made for Arizona)-15K,34K, 51K cruise control- often wont engage (told that brake pedal part fails, so "just push down hard on brake" - 39K) ft. brake calibers-defect (22K) recall-starter- fire danger-40K. Honda North America will not stand behind product -says " "...its too bad...not our problem, its yours." This is our 3rd Honda, 2nd Civic - never had any real problems until this. Car REALLY slow from start, but then ok 4-wheel disk brakes shudder and under-responsive.

  • Good car, but loud noise - 2003 Honda Civic

I got my new civic EX sedan and like it so far. I drove an old 88 honda Accord and there are no AC and radio in it. Thats why I feel the difference immediately. Dont understand why there is only one cup holder for back seat people.

  • It is what it is... - 2003 Honda Civic

Overall, I am pleased. I had owned a 99 Civic Ex coupe for 2.5 yrs and switched to a 6 cyl Jeep Wrangler. After only 4 months of owning the Jeep I found my favorite hangout to be the service dept, so I decided to trade. The civic is much as I had remembered: an affordable, sporty, fuel efficient auto with generic styling, especially the rear. The seats are comfortable, just needs some additional power to challenge the larger bolsters. Overall, it does the job and then some... reliable, peppy, and fun...you wont be let down.

I have owned this vehicle for just over 6 months now and I simply find it a pleasure to drive everyday. I use the car for commuting (approx. 50 miles per day) and it is wonderfully spacious for a hatchback when I go shopping on the weekends. The interior is very simple yet tastefully appointed (the bucket seats may take a little time to get used to) and all major options (power windows/locks, CD player, power moonroof, etc.) are standard. I usually average between 29- 31 miles per gallon (combination of city and highway driving), on regular octane gasoline.

  • Vibration on window side - 2009 Honda Civic
    By -

I bought this car 3 months ago. I have no problem with handling, mileage, and reliability. However, Im not satisfied with the build quality because there is vibration on the side door which I could not locate the exact place. It really bothers me because you can really hear the vibration.
