Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

Couldnt be more pleased with the overall performance and quality of this vehicle. The only thing I dislike is the limited head room. A tall person would not fit well in the drivers seat. I consider the fuel economy to be excellant for a non hybrid. I am getting an avg. of 36 mpgs

Getting rid of my Tacoma due to gas prices was hard. Best truck made. As sad as it is to say , you cant go wrong with a Honda or Toyota and with gas prices soaring, the Civic is much better looking than the Corolla. Yes, they both make cars with better gas mileage, but you still have to like what you drive. Thats why I chose the Civic Si. Ive only owned it for about a week, but the engineering is second to none. Some of the interior parts are a little cheap, but what do you want for $21,500? Great car if youre looking for fuel economy and still want some performance. Just know: you have to use premium fuel, so that negates some of your fuel savings.

I actually purchased my car in July of 2001. Not much of the interior or exterior has changed. I love my car. It has held together very well. You can not tell by any means that it is 3 years old. It has great fuel mileage, very reliable, and excellent in comfort. Everyone always wants to borrow my car.

The civic has poor visibility, is uncomfortable, and seems to have air conditioning problems which the dealer has been unable to diagnose.

I did a ton of research before buynig my new Civic. I love the features, the smooth shifting, the look of the car, and how it drives. Unfortunately, my new car has not been reliable. In the first 3 months I have had to repair my vehicles brakes, replaced the power steering assembly, and due to a faulty grounding wire, Ive been stranded on a busy freeway with a completely shut down car. I purchased a Honda for reliability above all else. My story isnt a typical one, but I post it here in case it helps other people. Other than the continuous repairs, I am very happy with my purchase. All repairs have been covered by warentee, but I would have prefered the car to be realiable.

  • Fuel milage is below expectations - 2008 Honda Civic
    By -

Its a little car that gets about 28 MPG combined driving and around 33 MPG on highway. This is very close to what our 2004 Accord does, and the Accord is 4 years old. I was expecting MORE. It is well constructed and easy to drive. The driver seat is a little hard. I do not like the gas gauge; would prefer one that shows 1/4 1/2, 3/4 and full. Those little dots on the gas gauge leaves much to be desired. The AC is not adequate at low speeds and the split level puts too much on the feet and not enough on the upper level. I may not keep this car very long.

  • Very Reliable and Fun to Drive! - 2004 Honda Civic
    By -

I bought this car new in 2004, and it is probably the best car I have owned to date. It has been very reliable, as I have only done the usual routine maintenance (wipers, tires, oil changes, etc). I got the VP package with manual locks and crank windows (less to go wrong- not that it probably would). The 5 speed trans. makes it fun to drive. Power seems on par or better than other 4 cyl. economy-minded models. Buying price was maybe a tad higher than some competing models, but the lack of repair costs and the great fuel economy have long since justified the price! MPG of 35-42 is about the usual for me. I do tilt the seat back a bit, as Im 65" and 250 lbs. Great car though!

  • Great Reliable Car!! - 2002 Honda Civic
    By -

I bought this car new in 2002. I havent wanted to part with it since then. Has been very reliable. I have just changed the usual things, such as tires, battery, etc. It still has the original brake pads. Stock tires werent the greatest. I get about 40 highway MPG with 5 speed manual transmission, which I think is hard to beat!! Very happy with this vehicle. Wish all I have owned worked this well!
