Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

Good car overall. Could use some more power. Good overall handling. Great year end pricing. Got mine for $12,110.00.

  • Best car I ever owned - 2003 Honda Civic

The quality of this car is unbeliviable. I always thought Id stick with american made cars but this car unquestionable beats the competition by a long shot.

This is the first hybrid vehicle Ive ever owned. I was contemplating purchasing the non-hybrid Civic with navigation, but after driving the hybrid I was sold on it. So far Im averaging about 43 MPG doing only city driving, Im anxious to do a highway trip to see what kind of mileage I get. This is my second Honda vehicle and I’ve been impressed with the quality for the price. The hybrid has been fun to drive and I only have fill up every third week rather than weekly doing the same amount of miles.

  • Cracked Engine Block - 2006 Honda Civic

This WAS a fun car to own, but Im not buying another Honda. Ive had this since January 2006 putting 71,000 miles (95% highway) on the vehicle. I followed all oil changes, all servicing AT THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. There is a TSB, 08-044 where they admit that all 2006, 2007, 2008 Civic Sedans have this design or casting flaw AND YOUR ENGINE WILL CRACK! Its just a matter of time. Hopefully it will be during the warranty (as most have been), and youll get your engine replaced. If not, youre in my boat, called the DOT, State Attorney General, Better Business Bureau, and Honda trying to get their design or casting flaw fixed. Ive never had to replace a Toyota engine.

  • Awesome Car! - 2004 Honda Civic

I have only had my car for a short time, but from the time that I have had with my Honda, I find myself loving it more and more everyday. I would recommend this car for anyone, especially anyone who travels a lot, b/c this car is GREAT on gas.

  • I love it! - 2006 Honda Civic

I have had this car for three thousand miles and I love it! The shifts are always smooth, has adequate pickup in low rpm range if you want to get good gas mileage, but stomp down on the gas and you really go! Disappointed with quality of peripherals. Bought the car used with 53k, after 1k miles needed a new idler pulley. Fixed the idler pulley and they told me that the tensioner pulley bearing is going bad too. Not to mention spending 10 hours getting my third gear fixed. While I did that I had to get my sun visor replaced ($75) it was falling apart. All in the first month of my owning (53-54k miles).

  • Oh, YEAH! - 2009 Honda Civic

This was my first compact car, kind of felt like I was down grading, but WOW!, this car packs a whole lot of punch! I love this car! This is by far, the most fun to drive car Ive driven. Great on gas mileage and it has all the bells and whistles you can ask for in a luxury car. I suggest if youre in the market for a compact car, DEFINITELY consider the Honda Civic!

  • Wonderful car! - 2008 Honda Civic

I have been a loyal Toyota owner since 1996, but I bought my first Honda because of its clever interior and nice exterior design. It is much quieter in the Civic EX cabin than in the Prius or Corolla cabin. I love the split dash display, the extra storage nooks on the dash and center console, the large windshield. The ride is wonderfully smooth and quiet. I also love the speed-sensitive volume control. The small storage spot under the heater control was just perfect for my Sirius radio, and I love the auxiliary input below the 12-volt outlet. My only real disappointment is the low fuel efficiency. With my Tercel, I was getting 42 mpg composite. With the Civic EX, I get only 33 mpg.

  • Brake Problems - 2006 Honda Civic

2006 Civic LX 4Dr Auto. The car ran and handled well. Gas mileage was a little disappointing because the most I got with a highway/city driving ration of 80/20 was 32 mpg. On average I received about 28-30 mpg. My biggest issue with this vehicle was that I had to replace the front brake pads at 7,700 miles and again at 13,500 miles along. The second time the pads were replaced, the rotors had to be replaced as well. I drove mostly freeway miles and I find this unacceptable. After speaking with American Honda and the dealership (the dealer was excellent), they said I should expect to only get between 8k-10k miles out of each pair. I have since sold the car.

  • Power and Build Quality - 2002 Honda Civic

You want a quick fun to drive little sporty car then this is your bet. Yeah the Focus SVT is faster but it is built like something from fisher price. Great seats, great gas miliage for the power and a 5 start frontal and 4 star side impact something the competition cant match. You want mods, you got em! All the way from simple cold air boxes gaining you 12 hp all the way to bolton turbos taking you to 277 hp. Let me tell you, I have the bolt on turbo and not much can match the straight line take off that this little puppy gives me. As for a stock model it is a great little get about with excelent power on the road.
