Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

  • Civic Si sporty, fun, reliable - 2000 Honda Civic

I love my Si! I bought it new in 2000 and have just recently begun to add aftermarket parts to it. It was fun to drive before, but with its new intake, headers and exhaust its even better. Thanks to Hondas attention to long term quality, I havent had any problems and dont expect to. My next step: 17 inch wheels with low profile tires ;)

  • Built to drive - 1991 Honda Civic

I bought a 1991 Honda Civic 2 door Hatchback with 141000 miles and now have 182000 miles. So far I replaced a rear brake clamp. It is time for a timing belt replacement. This car has consistently given 36-44 miles per gallon with 39 being the average when driven 55mph. It is very reliable and nice to drive. It has a 5 speed standard transmission.

  • Buy a civic thinking it will b amazing... - 2008 Honda Civic
    By -

I bought this car in May of 2008, 8 thousand miles later I needed new brakes in the front. Got literally yelled at for driving the car too hard. 8000 miles later, need new brakes again, go into new dealership, they tell me my calipers are defective. 2 months later there is a creaking from my front right, dealer says defective axle. My experience with this car is that it has a lot of defective parts, and Honda just doesnt seem to care anymore. I also drive an 88 prelude si, and the old clutch felt better then the brand new one on the civic.

  • Most reliable car - 1995 Honda Civic

Bought it new and still running. The sad part is a recent car accident may make me part with it. Otherwise, I planned to drive it until the odometer started at 0 again.

  • Real nice, but..........mileage......... - 2003 Honda Civic
    By -

Handles good, everything ok, but I am not getting the gas mileage. I am averaging only 25-27 in combined city and highway. On highway only - 31.

  • Fantastic ride - 2005 Honda Civic

My Honda Civic is fabulous - granted I still have very low mileage as all is very convenient where I live. I just had some brake work done today at Firestone for 217 dollars. No problem with the car otherwise.

  • Good solid car, but unexpected repairs - 1998 Honda Civic
    By -

I bought this Honda in April of 2004 with 106,000 miles on it. It drove great and looked great. It lasted me through two years of high school and four years of college. After about 150,000 miles, the repairs started getting more expensive and frequent. The exhaust system was a major problem- - the entire system needed to be replaced. A check engine light came on at 175,000 miles and after many diagnostic tests it was found that the computer was fried-- costing around 1200. Overall good car. Big problems to look out for: electrical and exhaust.

  • Like the last three civics I have owned, reliable - 2016 Honda Civic

Love the space, more roomier then the older models, best bang for buck, stock has plenty of technology for a driver who uses bluetooth. The gas mileage is stellar, and the car holds well.

  • Honda Civic CX - 1998 Honda Civic
    By -

This is a very good little car, but it is not the best value in the Honda line. The CX model does not have power steering and is difficult to park.

  • Best Value For An Economy Car - 2009 Honda Civic
    By -

Build quality and performance for the money is tops. A fun car to drive, a drivers car. Love the 6 speed manual. Gas mileage is tops for a performance a car. Honda should include the following items: glove box light, window switch lights for passenger side and rear side windows (4-doors). Only drivers window switch is lighted. Would like fog lights on without having headlights on, would like to have switch to turn off day time driving lights. Dual exhaust would look cool.
