Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

I really like how spacious my civic is. The back seats are great because theres no bump in the middle of the floor in the back, and theres tons of leg room even when the driver or passengers seat is moved back. Also the trunk is awesome, it holds so much stuff, so much space. And if you need even more space, the back seats fold down very nice to make more room. Finally, this car drives like a dream. Ive driven other small cars, and none of them are as smooth, or drive as easly as the Civic. This is an awesome car.

  • Honda DOES NOT Stand behind their Vehicles - 2006 Honda Civic

We purchased this vehicle brand new. At 14,000 miles the car needed new tires. At 30,000 miles the car needed new tires. At 64,000 miles the car needs new tires. We have been told the factory installed high performance kit does not have enough adjustment to properly align the car. The specialist told us that. Chezik- Bell in Iowa City, Iowa and American Honda will not even look at it, or listen to the "owners" of the car. Poor service - Poor management. Never have we had such problems with any other car than a HONDA. Will NEVER purchase another one. NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got a 2007 Honda Civic a few months ago, and I really have liked it so far. Its reliable, performs well, fun to drive, and has good fuel economy.

  • Quite Happy - 2006 Honda Civic

I just bought this car slightly used. I went from a 99 Civic Hatchback and proceeded through a difficult decision process and chose this coupe. Factors and thoughts: I am 33 and live in LA. I think the FIT is the perfect car, but test drove one and considered it strangely a step DOWN from my 99 Civic. Horrible crisis. Also considered: Mazda 3 hatch (family car), Mini Cooper (too hip, limited, expensive and faulty), Scions (too young for me), VW Rabbit (just boring), Prius (boring and expensive). I think that I made the best choice of the available cars. Comments: fun to drive, handling tight, build quality is great, the seats are VERY comfortable, acceleration is astoundingly smooth.

I purchased this civic at 10 y/o (in 2007) with 145,000 miles. I replaced a Ford coupe, at first I was skeptical about the transition to Honda nameplate. Very easy and fun to adjust to the civic, easy to love. The car was very clean, good engine (evrything original). The only repairs needed so far: a radiator replacement (just over $100), brake service overhaul (ouch: $400), alternator replacement (about $100). Routine servicing has included a new set of tires ($245), new battery ($55) and the usual periodic oil changes (at around 5k miles $23ea), and a autotrans flush ($85). I am currently clocked at 192k (happy) miles! Cant wait to break 200k I know it will...

  • Reliable car - 2000 Honda Civic

Bought this car new in 2000 and it has been an excellent and very dependable car. Only issue I had during these 9 years was that a couple of years ago the drivers side window stopped working. Aside from that, a replaced battery and all scheduled maintenance. It does an excellent 34- 35 MPG and handles very well on the highway. You cant go wrong if you are looking for a reliable car.

  • Honda Civic is great! - 2000 Honda Civic

This car is amazing...I have 129000 miles and it starts every time right up. The only maintenance I have had to do is the 3 accessory belts and the timing belt, all costing me under 1000 in total (timing belt and water pump was about 750). If you do the scheduled maintenance to this car, it will just go and go. Also great for driving are Michelin x radials for stock rims. The car is quiet and oh so comfortable, however for taller people it is quite a drop into the car...my wife has a Volvo with the most comfortable seats ever...best car purchase I have ever made though.

  • Very good, but not for everyone - 2007 Honda Civic
    By -

I like the car but its not for everyone. This car is better suited for someone who works at an office, college student (with some cash or daddy) who will mostly use it on freeways. I average on long trips on the highway around 36mpg to 40mpg going at 65 to 70mph. I drive kind of aggressive so I get around 25mpg mixed driving. I work at a shipyard so Im always dirty and carry stuff with me so having a 2door is impractical. Also Im 61 and this car is kind of low and with the moonroof there is not much head room for tall drivers. Also legroom is a bit short. Other than that it drives very good, looks great and many aftermarket options. I have projector lamp and L.E.D tail lights. Test drive it.

  • I love my new Honda - 2002 Honda Civic
    By -

I have driven many cars in my lifetime and decided on the Honda Civic because it has always had excellent consumer reviews. It handles the road well for its size and with skyrocketing prices in gas I was pleased to pay $13.00 to fill it up and found that during the breakin period it is still getting 31 mpg in combination city/highway driving. A very big difference from our Van and a real pleasure to drive.

  • Best Affordable Car - 2000 Honda Civic
    By -

This is my first time buying a Honda. Although I was going to buy the Honda Accord as my first choice, overall, you cant beat the civic. It is very room, comfortable and very sporty. I would recommend this to all the viewers who are reading this website. I have never had any problems with my civic. The civic, by far, is the best car that I have owned.
