Model Overview:

Since its launch in 1973, the Honda Civic has been one of the most popular compact cars sold in America. Its success can be attributed in large part to its consistently high level of quality inside and out and its long-standing reputation for reliability and low running costs. Impressive fuel economy and engaging performance have also played a role in making the Civic a top choice for many Americans.

The competition has largely caught up with Honda, though, and there are now many excellent small cars vying for your attention. Still, we continue to recommend the Civic due to its ergonomic interior layout, wide range of models and high resale value. For small-car shoppers in search of a solid used vehicle, the Honda Civic is certainly a smart choice, as its long production run and many variants make it easy to find what you want.

This was my third of 5 Hondas and is my favorite. It outlasted my 2002 Civic. I drove it for almost 200k before buying the 2002 and handed it over to a friend who needed a loaner... for 2 years, then again for a year, then to my niece and her boyfriend for a few months, and now it is going to be my daughters car at over 250k miles. It still gets 40mpg with mixed hwy and mountain driving, no engine issues, and two clutches. No rust, no alignment issues. Its fast, smooth, comfortable, and makes a good pickup truck. We will have it until it dies.

I love this car! I bought it in 1999 used with over 60K miles. People laughed and thought I got ripped off! $8000 for a car with high mileage then. The years of gas at $3.75 came and those same people could not afford to go to the beach like I could because their BIG trucks used too much gas. Now 2009, the car has 221000 miles and still shows no signs of quitting. I didnt do all those scheduled maintenance. I havent even changed the timing chain/belt. Just oil/ air filters, breaks and fluids! Oh and I had to replace CV boots. Thats all. BEST car Ive owned, and Ive owned plenty. Audi,BMW, Mustang, Chevys, VW, Renault, Bronco etc. Honda could take a lesson from its past and redo it!

As a family of a generation of imported street racing car the newly designed civic has kept up to todays standards, not only in price but also in stlye. I have own a 2001 honda civic which is exactly the same as the 02 and 03 and i have upgraded to street performance (racing modifications) and i am tellling you hold on for the ride. The new civic definatly can be call a civic. Just remember one thing drive smart not fast, youll always win.

The civic is an easy car to drive and operate, I love it. You will feel bumps, but that is the only fallback on this car. It is roomy inside and I am not short, I have a lot of head and leg room.

great mmileage, all instruments are in the right place cept for one. the gear shift can go into a low gear when you dont want it to and the site of the reading on shift lever is the only hard thing to find in the car. having no sound at stop lights is great. my oil plug came out while doing 55 mph and all went well.it shut down and wouldnt restart. i luv it.

  • My Third Honda - 2003 Honda Civic

I had owned a used 1979 Honda which gave 150,000 miles. Got 1991 Civic Hatchback based on previous performance of 1979 Hatchback. 1991 gave me 124,000 up to when I saw the 2003 SI. It is a very smooth operating 5 spd vehicle. I would rate it as one of the best small car values on the market. The 160 hp engine is quiet and powerful for town or road driving. The standard sports car features on the SI make this the best driving vehicle I have ever owned.

  • My best car yet... - 2003 Honda Civic

Having put 12,000 miles on my Honda Civic Hybrid CVT over the last 15 months, I can say I like it better than the 3 Audis and 4 Mercedes-Benz, bought new, that I had previously owned. (I traded in a late model M-B on the Civic.) Unfortunately, the Hybrid did not come with a moonroof, so I had a top-of-the-line ASC moonroof installed as part of the purchase order. (ASC is the supplier for the moonroofs that are installed at the Honda factories in Ohio.) This is one great car, as near to being environmentally sound as one could hope for at this stage of our technology.
